Rafael is a 36 year old teacher from a settlement in Israel, who is the proud father of three young children, ages 2, 4 and 7. He has semicha and is an ordained rabbi. He has always been active in the Chabad community, working with children and adults in spreading Torah. His wife Shira works part-time as a teacher.
In September 2014 he had a horrific incident—his right leg was infected by flesh-eating bacteria. Within 15 minutes his leg was destroyed. His body shut down, and his heart, kidneys and liver stopped working. His right leg had to be amputated above the knee. He was in intensive care for two months, and then underwent a few months of rehabilitation.
At this time Ahavas Chesed is spearheading an urgent fundraising campaign to help Rafi and his family get back to being self-sufficient. We need to raise a one-time sum of $50,000 to help Rafi. The costs we need to help him cover are as follows:
His therapy
Setting up his house for a wheelchair e.g. building a ramp, making the front door bigger
A specially-outfitted small vehicle for him to travel around his settlement
Job retraining as a graphic designer, as he can no longer work as a teacher of young children. He already is highly skilled as an artist.
Repayment of a loan he had to take out to cover his therapy up to now
The flesh-eating bacteria destroyed Rafi’s life. Please help us help Rafi.
Please find it in your heart to donate as generously as you can to get this wonderful family back on their feet. Click here to donate https://thechesedfund.com/cause/father-s-life-destroyed
Tizku l’mitzvos!
His goodness and positivity is palpable and contagious!
In 1999 and 2000 I was with Rafi Osher in Yeshiva in Tzfas. He always had a smile on his face. He was that one guy that you hopefully have in every setting that always has a smile on his face
