Why would a person do something so STUPID as to get a fake passport?? You did a crime that you know was wrong, do the punishment. I think the boy should remain in prison for the amount of time that he has to for such a punishment.

I agree that it was STUPID, and he did a crime and should pay a price. However, being in Ukraine jail for a few days, and the fear and uncertainty of what will happen to him is probably enough. BH he is getting out – AND LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ALL OTHERS, DONT BE STUPID AND TRY SOMETHING LIKE THIS, YOU MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY!!!

Sure, you NEVER did anything wrong. Therefore, you have no reason to fear that you’ll be judged by someone like you.

it is unfair, unwise, in my opinion that he should have put himself in this potential situation so that R’ Kamintezki should have to use his ability to do this, because there may be other yidden in Russia who need much more.

people make mistakes. Hashem hasn’t appointed you to judge them, simply to help if you can.

probably most of the people who go to jeil did something wrong. It does not cansell a mitsva of pidyon shvuim.

    1) it cant be that hard to forge a passport in ukrina so why not give it a try especially when you were black listed for no reason. 2) after all he did the same thing as your grand parents in russia forged passports to leave russia so here to the breslev kid forged a passport to be able to do his things ther like go to uman for rabbi nachman every year for for the month of tishrei and more so if you think this breslev kid is wrong then your grand parents might be wrong too. think about… Read more »

In communist Russia people were moser nefesh to see the Rebbe. This bochur wanted to see his Rebbe, He may have been stupid, but can you blame him? If you feel that he should languish in prison you really shouldn’t be calling yourself Chabad Chassidim who are supposed to love all Jews!

    racmanim, bayshanim, gomlei chasadim,

if you see a lack in any of these three traits you can queshtion if they are realy a yid. im not so sure about some of the comments made here. a yid is a rachman bnei rachmanim.
and we dont judge others, we help. thank you rabbi kaminetzky

No one says he should languish in prison. But don’t go justifying the action and implying that it is ‘understood’ because he wanted to see his Rebbe. It was a different kind of mesiras nefesh in those days – not deliberately doing something illegal that is a categorical violation of law and nothing to do with Anti Semitic infringement on his human rights! Go rob a bank to give tzedaka and ask, “can you blame me?”

you obviously dont have a son of your own (if u do, I feel bad for him). Sure, the boy was stupid and made a big mistake but to actually wish upon another yid to sit in jail in the ukraine. You need to look at yourself really hard. He is somebody’s child and surely terrified and sorry, albeit guilty. Jail is not something we wish upon another for a crime like that.

He was saying kol hakovod to Rabbi Kaminezki for visiting the boy and bringing him kosher food. Don’t you think if you ever did something stupid – not thinking all too well and landed up in jail, wouldnt you want kosher food to eat too???! Don’t be so judging plz plz plz! He’s a yid, we have to be supportive. I believe he’s learned his lesson.

It’s very interesting, that a bribe didn’t work in Ukraine. Usually this is a first thing you should know about Ukraine : want to be save, bring money

how many forged passports allowed Jews to enter safer territories during the time around WWII. especially if your real passport has been confiscated. compassion, understanding, unity and above all WE ARE NOT THE JUDGE.
