Brazil Wraps Successful Camps

Camp Gan Israel for both boys and girls in Brazil recently completed an especially lively and successful season.

Founded 33 years ago under the leadership of the Shliach Rabbi Dovid Weitman the camps are directed by Mrs. Marcia Eliezer – camp Pardes Chana, Rivky Rosenfeld – Teen Camp, and Rabbi Levi Weitman – Camp Gan Israel and Yeshiva Camp.

Each of the divisions grow with each successful year, both in quantity and quality, with children attending from diverse backgrounds.

This year, the camp hosted children from other states such as Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Teresopolis, Santos and even outside the country like the US and Argentina.

This season’s camps were led by Head Counselors Taty Lawrence, Yael Michaan and Dvora Benzecry in Pardes Chana, and Reuven Zajac and Shmuel Greenberg in Gan Israel.

In an environment of joy and ahavat Israel, the children of all backgrounds blended perfectly, with everyone having a great time and learning lessons for a lifetime.

Trips included a water park, bowling, camping and boating, and activities included workshops on circus activities.

A highlight of the season was a grand “color war”, held with great excitement and many lessons learned.

“When they return to school, it’s easy to see which of the kids attended Camp Gan Israel,” the director said. “The kids from Gan Israel of Brazil return to school with great chayus – excitement!”
