The 7th Grade of Oholei Torah recently wrapped a series of programs and incentives for the students.
This years’ various programs and Mivtzas, directed by Levi Druin, included a preparation for Yud Shvat, which ended with a sushi making event, and a preparation for Yud Alef Nissan, which ended with a barbeque and trip to the park.
The Mivtza that ended most recently was the amazing Mivtzah Hachono for Gimmel Tammuz.
Since the year was coming to an end, in order to make sure everyone was interested and involved in the program, organizers arranged for a special incentive.
The excitement building, all the students participated, coming early for a Tanya shiur every morning, filling out a daily “duch”, and answering a question of the week.
The class that had the most points (Rabbi Shapiro’s class) was rewarded with a grand tour of manhattan.
They group of excited boys left Oholei Torah in a gigantic stretch Hummer limo, and went straight to the Beast, a speedboat ride around Manhattan’s beautiful skyline. They were then treated to Bravos pizza, and went to the top of the Empire State Building. Afterwards, they had the craziest and most amazing scavenger hunt they have ever experienced.
Before returning to Crown Heights, they stopped off at Ground Zero where they were able to see firsthand what they had only heard about before.
As a bonus, three lucky 7th graders won a raffle for a 15 minute tour of Manhattan by helicopter.
A special thank-you to all the parents who helped sponsor the Manhattan trip, the 2nd place bowling trip, the BBQ, Tanya shiurim, pizza and ice cream etc. A very special and heartfelt thank you goes to the parents of Reb Michoel’s Minyan and the PTA, without whom, the Mivtza would not have been possible.
