In time for the approaching High-Holidays, Shluchim and Shuls around the world now have an enhanced tool to enrich their Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur synagogue services.
The Jewish Learning Group, publisher of popular titles such as the Shabbat Table Companion, and the world’s first Chabad Lifecycle Madrich, The Rabbis Companion, has released an updated print of their popular High-Holiday Synagogue Companion, reissued to conform to the pagination of the new Kehot Annotated Machzorim for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.
For nearly a decade, the hold-alongside-the-siddur guide has helped tens of thousands of Shul-goers, many of them attending services for the first time, understand the flow of the services, navigate the Machzor, and understand the meaning and history of each prayer. Clear English transliterations of key prayers helped even the most unaffiliated pray, sing along, and feel at ease, and inspiring stories and essays put people in touch with the deeper meaning of the day.
“Following the success of our Shabbat Synagogue Companion, which focused on demystifying the Shabbat evening and morning services by providing an easy prayer-by-prayer guide to the Shabbat Siddur, it became obvious that we needed to do the same for the Yomim Noraim,” said Rabbi Zalman Goldstein, founder of The Jewish Learning Group. “We want to be that knowledgeable and friendly person standing next to you in Shul, helping you feel at home, gently guiding you along, ultimately reducing the anxiety some feel when attending religious services, making it infinitely more enjoyable, meaningful, and memorable experience.”
Described by many Shluchim as a life-saver in the synagogue, the newly updated High-Holiday Synagogue Companion is available for preview and order at www.JewishLearningGroup.com where deep bulk discounts for Shluchim are offered, as well as at your favorite bookstore.
Every year during the High-Holidays I recall sitting in the Synagogue, wondering what all the prayers mean, their relevance, etc. Last year I was fortunate to find this easy-to-understand guide. It walked me step-by-step through the entire services for Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur. It is written for everyone, even those with very little or no background like me. I’m sure you will find something of interest for yourself in this fact filled book. There should be more books like this out there. This one is a good start!
Shana tova!
I put out this guide every year and my people love them, we put one on each seat and I found it keeps members informed and more involved. They love the stories in the back.
Glad it was updated to the new Machzorim page numbers I’m going to order more for this year.
