When do we intentionally act against our belief in Moshiach?
This was one of the many hard questions asked at a Chidon in Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim of Queens.
At the eve of the auspicious day of 28 Sivan, the Yeshiva celebrated this special day with a spectacular Chidon on Inyonei Geula U’Moshiach, the Chidon was a climax to a Mivtza started by the Shluchim from after Pesach, a special Kovetz was prepared with learning material split according to the days, every day there were questions on the daily quota and raffles for those that filled it out.
After 4 tests which all of the Bochurim did very well on, they were treated to a biking trip.
After completing the intial part of the Mivtza, the bochurim had the opportunity to review the material and take an extreme test on it, and all who did well were set to compete with each other at the chidon.
14 Bochurim were awarded this honor, and thus began the many hours spent poring over the Kovetzim making sure they were fluent in every detail, not missing anything out.
Although the bochurim were competing in a competition, it was beautiful to see the achdus that emanated from the beautifully decorated Zal, as one parent remarked, “it was evident that the bochurim were helping each other with the answers!”
For the bochurim watching the chidon it was engaging as well, since they were all well versed in the topics being discussed, it was really tense as the judges awarded every new round of the contestants, narrowing down to the top 2 which reached the most exciting part, when each contestant had the job of choosing a question for his companion.
All participants of the chidon were given a gift Igros Kodesh Binyonei Geula U’Moshiach, the 1st place winner won a Dollar from the Rebbe, 2nd and 3rd place each won $100 gift certificate towards seforim.
Mazal Tov to all the participants: Mendel Goldstein, Yisroel Levin, Mendel Heidingsfeld, Hilel Levinson, Zalmy Eidelman, Levi Braun, Mendel Weinbaum, Levi Cohen, Mendel Rodal, Shneur Raices, Shneur Ginsberg, Mendel Hendel, Yankel Simon and Avremi Pevzner.
The event was also a seudas Mitzva in honor of the Siyum Hamasechta, 15 Bochurim finished the entire Masechta Bava Basra! And 4 bochurim in shiur Aleph finished the entire Masechta Suka! Plus, many more bochurim who did part of the mesechta and were recognized for their achievements.
A truly magnificent moment as Hatomim Reuven Goldstein was Mesayem the Masechta and thanked the Shluchim for helping him achieve this feat, he also repeated a Sicha were the Rebbe explains the significance of Bava Basra and its connection to the ultimate Geula.
A surprise at the evening was from Rabbi Chanin, who brought a rare Kuntres that the Rebbe prepared to give out, with very few remaining copies and rewarded it as a special gift for all the Mesayemim.
What a pride for parents, grandparents, friends and supporters to recognize the tremendous achievements of the Bochurim, may they continue Being an inspiration to us all surely the Rebbe is very proud of them!
P.S. The answer to the question, When do we intentionally act against our belief in Moshiach? We firmly believe that every minute of suffering in golus is ultimately for our benefit, and we still beg Hashem to end this Golus a moment sooner.
