This past Sunday, Rabbi Levi Wineberg tested the Bochurim of the Yeshivas Kayitz of Yeshiva Gedola of Johannesburg, South Africa. It took two hours but, in the end, Rabbi Wineberg exclaimed, ““I am amazed! This is an astounding achievement!”
In what has become a tradition for almost a decade now, Rabbi Wagner, Director of “YKSA”, challenged the Bochurim to complete the entire Masechta of Sanhedrin (113 Blatt!!) during their six week summer “vacation”. This year, 14 boys (two-thirds of the program) completed the entire Masechta.
Although the students received standard tests on all they had learned, they were tested on the last night of the program by Rabbi Wineberg, who was amazed at the way they competed with each other to give the correct answers to his questions, which covered every part of the Masechta. “You have certainly given the Rebbe a lot of Nachas with your diligence in your studies,” he exclaimed.
Many of the Bochurim claimed to have learned more Nigle and Chassidus during Yeshivas Kayitz than in an entire year of Yeshiva. In addition to the unbelievable quantity of Gemoro, each Bochur completed between 10 and 25 Ma’amorim of the Rebbe. Every spare minute was spent learning and the counselors had to tear the boys away from their seforim even for trips and activities!
While they have gone surfing, caving, hiking, rafting, boating and on a safari many have said the highlight is their feeling of accomplishment.
A big Yasher Koach to the Mashgiach Rabbi Nesanel Schochet, the counselors Chaim Gajer, Shaya Denburg and Mendy Chazan, the learning teachers Levi Wolff and Yossi Labertov, the yoishvim Yaakov Gralnik, Naftoli Minkowitz and Eliyohu Raskin. Without their dedicated work none of this could have happened.
“We hope, BEH, to match and even surpass the accomplishments of the summer in the upcoming Yeshiva year,” says Rabbi Wagner. He is currently preparing for his trip to the Rebbe in prior to the upcoming Z’man. “We are certain that the diligent study of Nigle and Chassidus has helped complete the final preparations for the complete Ge’ula with the coming of Moshiach NOW!
