A pro-Palestinian protest has been planned for this Shabbos afternoon near the Crown Heights neighborhood.
The “Flood Brooklyn For Gaza” protest is scheduled for 3:00 PM this Shabbos at the Brooklyn Museum in Crown Heights, and is expected to draw large crowds in support of the Palestinians and Gaza.
“Jews should definitely avoid the area,” a security source told COLlive.com. “There’s no intel at this time in which direction the protest will head. Locals should definitely stay away from Eastern Parkway in that area.”
To increase safety in the area, the NYPD will have additional police presence around the Crown Heights neighborhood. This is also due to the Chabad on Campus Pegisha taking place as well.
“In addition, there is a Veteran’s Parade scheduled to march on Eastern Parkway on Saturday morning from Bedford Avenue until Grand Army Plaza,” the source said.
Rabbi Chanina Sperlin of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council (CHJCC) said he has been in touch with the NYPD about this. “They assured me that we will be protected,” he told COLlive.com.
“The protest plans to walk to the house of Senator Chuck Schumer in Park Slope, but I would advise that people don’t take a Shabbos walk in that area.”
The protest at Grand Army Plaza is being coordinated by the same group who held a pro-Palestinian rally in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, last Saturday to which over 5,000 people showed up. The NYPD clashed with some of the protesters who became violent.
“While we don’t expect this protest to be as large as the one last week, we always prepare for the worst and hope for the best,” a community activist said.
Rabbi Yaacov Behrman of Jewish Future Alliance said, “We are aware of plans to hold a demonstration in front of the Brooklyn Museum on Shabbos at 3 p.m.
“Last week, there was a rally in Bay Ridge that included hateful and anti-Semitic rhetoric and signs. Despite this, the NYPD did an excellent job of protecting the neighboring communities. We strongly recommend that you stay vigilant and avoid that area unless absolutely necessary.
“Many people have expressed concerns regarding both safety and the potential trauma to our children. We have been in communication with the NYPD, and they have assured us that there are no intentions to march towards 770 or in this direction. They are fully committed to taking all necessary measures to prevent any such occurrence. Additionally, there will be a significant police presence in place to safeguard the community,” he said.
Why would they allow a protest so near large Jewish communities??
It’s wrong
I’m not so sure how strong and confidence the police feel. What can they do, cancel a ‘peaceful’ demonstration ..? They can only wait until it inevitably gets rowdy. And don’t forget police get a bad rap and have been defunded
Police budgets in NY have gone up, substantial since 2020.
Uhhhm You need a wake up call, LEO’s in NY have left the state and taken early retirement due to politicians curtailing LEO’s enforcement of law and order.
If you lived in a state that believes in crime and punishment, you wouldn’t have any reservations as to personal safety, nor what reservations LEO’s have.
I served the nation in Army aviation and refused to move back to my home state after my service. States like NY have elected leaders completely stuck on stupid acting against the US Constitutional beliefs. I moved to West Florida and we love our Governor and we appreciate the men in green, red and especially the men and women in blue.
They just had a big protest in Bay Ridge that caused a lot of problems for the residents there, and to my understanding I’m told they brought in all kinds of people not from the area just to really stir things up.
Yes, I wholeheartedly agree, it is wrong.
They always import bus loads of protestors from else where, and in some cases they are paid.
They’re allowed to protest and we are allowed to counter protest. I recommend the whole community comes out to meet these people head on.
unless ur going to be carrying a weapon for protection, it would be a bad idea
I think this is what they want and seeing that there will probably be thousands it really is not safe to attend.
They never want counter protests. The same way we don’t enjoy seeing Neturei Karta show up. They want the world to believe that we don’t exist and don’t care.
1) It’s on Shabbat
2) No one wants to die
3) Crown Heights is quiet
4) We DO NOT want anyone hate crimes to sky rocket just because we showed up
I think it’s beyond irresponsible to suggest that we “meet these people head on” on Shabbos afternoon – do you expect to get a heter to have a phone on you in case you’re in a bad spot that you CHOSE to put yourself in? It’s a sacona to do such a thing.
Agree. If there’s a counter protest, I’ll be there.
And we should go in our tallis as well to show who we are and not afraid. Imagine the news depicting both sides One is violent and full of rage and the peaceful and unified
Just ignore them unless they come on you property or try to harm you, they will all power remove them.
That is a ridiculous and dangerous suggestion
its called freedom of expression/speech, just as us jews are allowed to do.
Freedom of speech does not extend to the individual who will incite hate and violence
Yes, it does. You seem ignorant of the first amendment.
You use the word “incite”, but you seem not to understand what it means. There is no proof that they intend to incite violence; if any speaker at the protest does incite violence I am sure NYPD will immediately arrest him, but that’s not likely to happen.
But they are perfectly entitled to “incite” hatred. That is the freedom of expression.
ur a liberal. why are you here. we dont need hateful creatures like you, try to say lies and think we need to listen to them
everyone are so afraid of those type of unfortunately chassidim that give space, permission, and freedom to our own flesh and blood brothers and sisters who are actually being treated the exact horrific opposite.
Such tuma and clipa. They are not protesting about global warming or if animal’s skin should be used for clothings. This is about having control of a land which does not belong to them and the lust for more power to do more terrorism and torture.
Hashem yishmor I don’t think I will ever understand such people
***give space to people who are actually doing the opposite to our very own flesh and blood…
can someone make propalestinian protests illegal
BH, They just banned ProPalestinian riots in France!
Rep Yvette Clarke
Rep Ritchie Torres
Senator Chuck Schumer
Senator Gillibrand
Please google. They may not answer so you can email.
I actually did try the DC office and they’ve already been sending everything to voicemail. I don’t know what intern they assigned the task of screening all those calls and emails. Schumer lives in Park Slope so I guess they’ve moved on from there.
There is no freedom of expression in France
no
Boruch Hashem in this country we have a constitution and a first amendment, so no, it is impossible to make ANY protest illegal. And that is how it should be.
There’s gonna be way more jewish students and chabad rabbis/rebbetzins/volunteers than you idiots.
And we have no intention of fighting. We will continue to celebrate life and goodness, from our side of town while you attempt to intimidate with your flyers calling for death and evil. Enjoy the weather bozo heads.
Why we need to be scary and not free in our country?
90 years past from Kristal Nacht…
Because if we didn’t allow freedom of expression it wouldn’t be the USA and it wouldn’t be worth defending. it is only because of our freedoms that this country is so great. So don’t go undermining them, because if you do that they won’t be there when you need them.
How can they not allow it? It’s a free country. They have no choice but to allow it, and to watch it in case it gets violent. Only then can they stop it.
Shouldn’t the advice be that Israelis should avoid the area?! Isn’t that what this war is about, Israel vs Palestinians? Sure sounds like an anti-Semitic protest if the advice is that Jews should stay away.
And why should there be a place in NYC that anyone should avoid, let alone a specific ethnicity? I can tell my kids to avoid an area that is dangerous, but police that are tasked with protecting us should not be giving us this advice. They should do their jobs and keep us safe!
It was always about jew haters vs all jews
The war is on all Jews whether Israeli or not. If you were in Israel then wouldn’t care that you’re an American they would’ve killed you either way.
Actually it’s a war on those who are not Muslim
This is Gog and Magog, where no Jew is safe. The war is not about *Israel vs Palestenians* but Jews vs the world.
No, you fail to know what the war is about. It is the goal of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran and it’s proxies to wipe out Israel so it will be remembered no more and to kill all Jews. Right out of Scripture.
Ps 83:4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
All of this has been foretold thousands of years ago, let that sink in. How did the the writer of palms know this was coming? Read all of Ps 82, then Ez 38/39.
Who thought you’ll see such a headline in your lifetime? 1933??? Never again is again right now!
(Also side note but on the fact that this could happen right here on eastern parkway , this community has zero leadership. Zero)
All the people that get up and yell “would the Rebbe want this in his community “ (Tznius Eiruv etc…) are dead silent now. Why?
We need to be our own leaders ourselves
Who would have thought? Anyone who follows Scripture, ie Ps 83 & Ez 38/3938
Please explain how ANY leadership could have prevented this demonstration. Do you imagine the Rebbe could have stopped it?! This is America, and they have the right to express their vile, disgusting views, just like their Nazi Party allies and the KKK and BLM have that right. Only when a protest becomes violent can the police stop it.
theres no way, our so called leaders that love hochul and adams, cant have this cancelled. everyone knows this will be very bad as jews will be attacked
Then obviously it is no mistake but deliberate. Remember how the feds/ pols and media whipped up frenzied crowds in tandem post-George Floyd? And pre-election.
Sama same
Just wait until may when all hell breaks loose and will put the 2020 riots to shame.
Biblical times
I don’t think they can have this cancelled, no matter how much pull we have with politicians. It will be even worse – for our side – to have the protest cancelled – “New York Jews who control the government shut down Palestinian activists”.
What they CAN and SHOULD do is have such a strong police presence that any Yid can walk from one end of the protest to the other without worrying about a scratch.
How do you imagine that could be done? What do you think Hochul or Adams could do? The NYPD has to issue a permit. It has no power not to. If it tried to deny a permit the courts would immediately order it to issue one
so in Brooklyn, they are letting terrorists riot and demonstrate #EricAdams #KathyHochul . we dont need you making photo ops if you let these terrorists riot in your city & state
They’re letting them demonstrate, because they have to. If it turns into a riot, as it did in Bay Ridge, they will shut it down.
Thousands from crown heights should go to counter protest. Stop being sheep
Just steer clear and stay away.
their language is violence. Ours is holiness.
hakol kol Yaakov vehayadayim yedei esav
keep shining your light
and only stand up to them when it’s 1000% necessary. Otherwise do your thing and let the police do theirs
But there’s going to be a campus pegisha at that time
Nowhere near the museum.
fantastic
I mistakenly voted for this but for the safety of others, I disagree
Wrong, ignore them unless they get on your property or try to harm you – then remove them from their miserable lives.
“they the police assured you that we will be protected “!
Only the Eibshter can assure that !
thats a lie. we know for a fact, they will look the other way
What a pathetic arrangement
Go make an anti blm really or pro Israel rally right outside Harlem or some other black community…. see how that would be welcomed. Why do we just allow people to do such things right near us without us fighting back
And the police will protect you if anyone starts up.
All Adam’s needs to do is cancel this ‘permit’ and switch it to Washington Square Park in Manhattan (where the ppl in that area will be more welcoming…)
Security isn’t just about more police, it’s also about not having these ppl in our front yard to begin with. Askonim use your connections, move this ‘parade’ to Manhattan or at least Downtown Brooklyn
And he can’t switch it anywhere. They have the right to protest wherever they like, so long as traffic is not obstructed.
CAN THE RABBANIM ALLOW GUNS?
Don’t worry our community has an ‘eiruv’
If there is a need to carry a weapon to protect lives, never mind an Eruv.
its not worth it to carry a gun, self defense doesn’t exist in blue states, you will be locked up for life and the criminal will be praised like by George Floyd
few guys in my shul have concealed weapon license carry to to shul
No you cannot bring a gun to the rally as per nys law but you cam have a concealed weapon outside rally. The Jewish Repunlicam city council woman from Brighton Beach , Inna vernikov got arrested for bringing gun to rally
Everyone will be carrying their guns this Saturday
Unfortunately it’s not up to us.
They are NOT protesting for Palestinians. They are protesting against the existence of Eretz Yisroel. And the destruction of the jewish people. I would offer that the entire crown heights, every one man woman and child get there at 2 pm and take up the space around Grand army plaza, shut down traffic and farbreng, say tehillim. We cant allow these nazis to have their voices heard. If we avoid that area that means we are cowering. Rabbi Sperlin you are good with the police, Mayor Adams supports Israel. They should set up cameras and record anyone who called for… Read more »
AL TIVTICHU BENIDIVIM
and do not be naive.
Local governments like to pick and choose which parts of the constitution to uphold.
If the right to free speech is upheld, so should the right to bear arms.
Every Jew should own a gun and know how to use it.
Take in-person lessons. Watching videos is no substitute.
France just banned all Pro-Palestinian riots/gatherings!!! Guess they remember and learned from history. May they be blessed for this effort to stop anti-semitism!
In France there is no liberty, no inalienable rights with which all people are endowed by their Creator. In France you have to watch what you say, because you can get arrested for saying the wrong thing. Just like in Russia, just on a smaller scale. The principle is the same.
Here in America boruch hashem we have a first amendment and courts that enforce it. And now BH the courts have finally started enforcing the second amendment too.
We should beware of them? They should beware of us!
Lol why should they fear us? We only do mean tweets and comments on collive.
Super scary!
Interesting. The nations know the power of the Jewish people, but their own people have forgotten.
Last night at the JCM there was a safety session. There were more police, FBI and sheriffs than there were residence. Shame on all those that didn’t make it a priority to attend. Yea, Yea plenty excuses to go around. All of a sudden everyone is putting in their complaints. One of them said that we are protected by “free speech”. In other words anyone can say anything to you, as a Jew, as long as it’s not threating, it is NOT a crime. Oh sure, I’d like to see what happens should a yid call an African American the… Read more »
This is correct. The Constitution protects speech. It also prevents the Government from restricting the right to keep and bear arms, but somehow NY under the splendid leadership of Kathy, continues to infringe that right.
It also demands secure borders and detaining all illegal aliens and deporting them immediately right back to where they came from. The whole sanctuary city thing is illegal
There is not one word in the constitution about borders, and the whole concept of “illegal aliens” and deportation was completely foreign to the USA’s founders. The constitution does NOT give Congress any power to regulate immigration.
And sanctuary cities are completely constitutional, so long as they’re allowed by state law. The tenth amendment gives states the right to refuse to assist federal law enforcement. That is a sacred US tradition that is one of the most basic freedoms.
We are done with continuing this cycle of abuse.
We don’t trust the FBI or sheriff or politicians who give stand down orders to the police.
Let them talk to themselves until they figure out how to cancel every decision and policy they made to create the danger we are in.
Starting with the illegal alien handouts, the unsafe shelters, the removal of any consequences for the criminals. Etc….
We should go to a safety summit headed by those that bring in the danger?? (Homeless shelters, allowing protests from the enemy?)
The ones who tell us how they will protect us are two-faced.
What good is a hate summit when there’s a hate rally a few days later?
You can NOT be arrested for calling a black person anything. It is not a crime and it cannot be made a crime. You might be beaten up, but then the person beating you will be arrested.
Jews should avoid an area?! A loud-mouth evil-supporting entity announces they will be somewhere and loudmouth’s focus of attention is advised to hide and cower?! If the terrorists in Gaza/Israel announced they will be rampaging on Saturday, would the message to Israelis be to avoid the area? Do Jews live in and around Eastern Parkway? They must avoid their own environs because bullies have announced they’re coming? I’m not condoning a counter protest or sparring. But to stay away from one’s own turf??? This is a healthy response to seeds of terror people are planting here? ATTENTION COMMUNITY LEADERS (or… Read more »
It would be a great idea for all these protestors to read the Passuk from this week’s Parsha.
Those that bless you …
UNLESS WE WILL BE CARRYING FIREARMS ,LIKE THOSE RIOTER WE WILL HAVE NO SHOT TO PROTECT OURSLEVES
Can’t carry on Friday and Saturdays
Don’t hold a safety summit and then allow a protest of enemies.
Do spread light. Learn more Torah, especially Rambam, as Rabbi Marlow A”H once announced in 770 regarding the safety of Eretz Yisroel. More mivtzoim, besuras hageulah. When R’ Zushe Rivkin had the idea to build a home for the Rebbe in Eretz Yisroel, the Rebbe answered, “a home? a palace!” Support the initiative that is now underway once again to get the Armon for the Rebbe built.
If you’re feeling betrayed ’round about now it’s bc you are.
Say it the way it is. PRO HAMAS.
If they are so pro? Why does no country want them.
It’s fine, they should be allowed to protest.
We should also have a protest at that same time in that same place.
I never saw the NYPD saying Palestinians should stay away from someplace that is having a Jewish protest.
Have you noticed that a Jew can’t walk into an Arab village without worrying for his life. But Arabs walk through Jewish neighbourhoods comfortably. Have you noticed that there are almost no Jews left in Arab counties at all. But there are plenty of Arabs in the Jewish country. Have you noticed how a Jew would never feel safe to buy a house in a black neighbourhood. But blacks won’t give up their houses in Jewish neighbourhoods, apparently they like living amongst Jews. Goyim feel safer amongst Jews than they feel amongst their own selves. On the other hand Jews… Read more »
I thought the mayor was “not okay” with the current situation how come there are permits given to such events?🤔
Ha
But for COVID it was ok to shut down a levaya.
And deny permits for simchas beis.
But the BLM rally was attended by the mayor himself bc it’s profound meaning was too profound to cancel. And the super scary (and smart!) COVID knew to tell the difference too.
They are entitled to a permit. If the NYPD denies a permit, the court will order it to issue one.
Not the other way around. We should have much more krav maga centers in this neighborhood than pizza stores (not that I’m against pizza… just that our priorities aren’t in order)
are the so called leaders in touch with Adam & Hochul , to have this Kristallnacht riot cancelled???
It’s a free country. People are entitled to protest.
They don’t even need a permit if they’re not blocking traffic. But if they want to protest in the road they must be given a permit at a reasonable time. They can be denied one on a weekday when there’s heavy traffic, but not on a Saturday afternoon.
THERE IS AN ORGANIZED PROTEST ON THE NEXT BLOCK FOR 2 pm. THERE WILL BE A MINIMUM OF 1500 PEOPLE ALREADY LET US KNOW THEYRE SHOWING UP. IF THE PRO TERROR PEOPLE TRY ANYTHING STUPID ITS GOING DOWN.
If so I’m in
Now your trying to start a war in this country.
I was planning on taking a walk this shabbos , going to be gorgeous weather . I’m having a problem with the fact that I have to be scared to take a walk .
Should we also lock our doors incase it gets out of hand and they walk towards us
You should always lock your doors
Rochester Park is a nice option
Don’t just rely on NYPD. They can easily be overwhelmed if thousands show. Time for every able bodied Yid to mount up. Better to be prepared and never need it then to need it and be caught unprepared. No need to be a cowboy just don’t be a sheep either
Don’t live in Israeli settlements. It’s not safe.
Don’t live in Israel near Gaza and West Bank. It’s not safe.
Don’t live anywhere in Israel. It’s not safe.
Don’t live in areas in NYC with any Israelis. It’s not safe.
Just don’t live anywhere.
If Hamas/hizbulla has their way you can be sure they’ll help you out with the don’t live anywhere part…
But seriously Hashem is in charge and nothing can stop Him from helping us live everywhere!
So drop the fear, pick your head up high, realize your very existence is a living miracle and proof that we will persevere and not bc of koichi veetzem yodi
This is Hashem bringing His children back to Eretz Yisrael. There is no where else to be, no matter how difficult this is to grasp, it is the truth. There are those who chose to stay in Mitzrayim the first Redemption, hopefully there won’t be this time around.
May we offer to pay every pro-terrorist instigator a free one way ticket to Gaza?
Let them enjoy living under the thumbs of the brutal savages they support.
There’s a reason that Jordan and Egypt don’t want to take any Gaza Arabs into their country. Because they know good and well that their only contributions to society will be blowing up body parts to pieces.
Be careful, when you sleep with dogs you’ll wake up with mites.
It is pure Nazism, and again we are scared to go out, need to hide, and what is the next step?
Why are these protests not banned, and all who promote hate crime not jailed?
I don’t live in NY, but why don’t delegations from C.H. meet with the mayor and police commissioner to request that the demonstration be held far from a Jewish community? It’s not too late. We vote and have a say in whether they get elected again.
Also, the Rebbe said we shouldn’t participate in demonstrations. Hashem is the One in charge.
Rabbi Meir Kahane, OBM, was so right when he proclaimed, “They Must Go!” He proposed that no Arabs be allowed to live in E’Y, that they should be sent to other Arab countries, and that they would be monetarily COMPENSATED.. As we know, he was killed for holding this view..An yet, as history shows, like the Rebbe, he was right..so sad..
R Kahane HYD said law-abiding Arabs should be allowed to live in EY on the same terms that Israelis are allowed to live in the USA. Full civil rights but no political rights.
There should be a counter protest with 10,000 Jews standing strong. We come with bats and jelly donuts. It is stated you can arm yourself and carry protection on shabbos during such situations. The protesters can pick the jelly donuts or the bats… their choice but they are getting one or the other .
No counter protest just shows we are weak and these animals can go unabated
Bombard the mayors office and ask him to stop it.
…FDR banned the German Bund and all groups supporting Nazi or Japanese fascist enemies. The demonstrations stopped cold…just like that.
The Bund was never banned. But in any case FDR didn’t care about the constitution, and after a while the courts started allowing him to get away with it.
Even in war time it is unconstitutional to ban any group merely for advocating the enemy’s cause.
The one thing they should do is block eastern parkway for cars.
No cars should get close from Brooklyn avenue till Rochester !!
Granting ” Freedom” to yell anti-semitic rantings to those advocating the murder of Jews is, in my opinion, inciteful; but there has always been, and likely always will be, till Be’at HaMoshiach, a different standard regarding Jews. I’m not sure that “freedom” to rally at Grand Army Plaza would have been granted to groups gathering to spew anti—-( fill in the blank with whatever other minority hatred you like) hate. The Russian Stalinist dictator NikIta Khrushchev Y”SH, once noted that if given enough rope, Western democracies would eventually hang themselves. I’m afraid to admit I am beginning to see that… Read more »
