About ten years ago, Long Island University’s graduation took place in BAM. The valedictorian was a Lubavitcher girl; her address began with the words: “My rabbi, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, always taught t hat the purpsoe of all education was to create a better world.” With those words she proceeded to define all of the 7 mitzvos b’nai Noach, and ended with the inspiration of the day when Moshiach will come. She minced no words, and was given a standing ovation by the filled to capacity auditorium.
Perhaps that was the ‘first’ Jewish event at BAM!
