Joining in the simcha and Achdus of Klal Yisroel in the release of Rabbi Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin, and in honor of Hey Teves, Cheder Chabad of Baltimore held a community-wide Melava Malka. The evening thanking Hashem for this triumph over modern day Anti-Semitism united Yidden from the different communities from the relatively diverse area.
Despite the short notice the event attracted over 300 people. Sumptuous dinner was served, as all enjoyed the music band and choir by members of the Chasidishe Kolel of Baltimore and local Balabatim.
Words of inspiration were shared by Rabbi Eliyahu Matusof, member of Otzar Hachasidim, Rabbi Elchonon Lisbon, Rav of Congregation Ohel Levi Yitzchok Lubavitch; Rabbi Yosef Klyne, Mashpia in Yeshivas Chabad of Baltimore; Rabbi Shaya Taub, Rav of Khal Arugas Habosem; and Rabbi Nesanel Kostelitz, Rav of Khal Machzikei Torah and Rosh Kollel of the Baltimore Community Kollel.
After a live hookup address from Reb Sholom Mordechai Rubashin the crowd burst into spontaneous dancing. “Only Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin,” said one participant, “could have brought together such a mixed crowd, with true Achdus.”
After benching, many stayed for a Chassidishe Farbrengen for Hey Teves which extended into the early morning hours.
The event was organized by Rabbi Zalmen Spitezki. Photos by Baltimore Jewish Life/Ansbacher Photography.

Beautiful excellent the main thing is you all had a good time and that’s the most important thing keep on smiling keep on dancing keep up the spirit
A prominent lawyer, “Edwin Black,” spoke about the Rubashkin farce, before the sentencing. He shines some very important points regarding the case. For example, it may not necessarily be anti-Semitism, but definitely an equivalent, known as xenophobia (you don’t fit in to our community); The judge, Linda Reade,Y”SH, would have a problem giving a lighter sentence, because, then you would have to review previous cases, where she imposed harsh sentences, which would put her credibility into question.
