100 years ago, a seamstress in Krakow named Sarah Schnirer founded the first Jewish girls school Bais Yaakov. It soon turned into a movement and revolutionized Jewish life.
Her legacy was celebrated last month at the gala dinner of the flagship Bais Yaakov school in Boro Park, which itself is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Paying tribute Bais Yaakov was renowned Lubavitch lecturer Rabbi YY Jacobson who was invited to deliver the keynote address at the dinner.
His riveting talk addressed the unique voice that women bring to Torah and Judaism and why our generation so deeply needs it.
