A Lubavitch rabbi and his congregants headed Sunday to Williamsburg for a round of Mivtzoim – offering Jews to light Chanukah candles.
60 Menorahs were handed out to passersby and one, who never had a Bar Mitzvah, laid Tefillin for the very first time.
Sound familiar?
Well, here is what’s different: most of the work (and attention) was done by some 30 children, sons of Bais Shmuel members in Crown Heights.
Despite bad weather, the kids insisted on handing out the most they could, with the help of their parents and Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Jacobson.
Beautiful. What better lesson for those children than to enjoy the gift of giving. And with their Rav, whom they probably have no clue is a “world-famous” speaker. But Rabbi Jacobson knows and he was out there in the trenches with the kids.
Once again, Bais Shmuel is a trailblazer. Keep it up.
he could have said “i have to prepare a speech, or council someone. instead he said, no, i will go, and show the kids and the adults how it’s done, in the rain.” and everyone knows that going in the rain is like a choshuveh super bowl that is played in the rain, or snow, that is on a much higher and more powerful level.
yasher koach. Really beautiful and reassuring!! I have no doubt that this brings enormous nachas to the Rebbe; may you continue and may others around follow suit!!
Is it our turn today?

Nice to see the big speaker Yossi Jacobson. It shows that he is a Chassidishe person, he could of easliy said to himself: “look ich bin doch fort a choshuve speaker, how can I go shlep zich around” Kol Hakavod
