This past weekend thousands of Shluchos gathered to celebrate the legacy of our Rebbetzin. The Rebbe and Rebbetzin taught shalom bayis by example.
The Rebbetzin was the silent and steadfast supporter of the Rebbe as he revolutionized the world. The Rebbetzin was a quiet woman who stood behind the Rebbe, supporting him in all he accomplished. The Rebbe once said to Dr. Ira Weiss, “The time I spend with my wife each day is as important to me as putting on tefillin, the fulfillment of a Divine command.”
The Rebbe and Rebbetzin shared a deep concern for each other. The Rebbetzin once told her relative that she would always wait for when the Rebbe came home so he would not need to come home to a dark house with cold food.
Those who worked in the Rebbe’s home tell how the Rebbe never called out to the Rebbetzin from another room. Instead, they would converse face to face only.
Someone once asked the Rebbe if he should follow the custom where a groom gently steps on the foot of his bride to ensure the husbands’ voice will always be heard in the home. The Rebbe looked bewildered at the question. He replied, “If a woman is shown true love, her husband’s voice will be heard in the home.”
