It is G-d who defines what is moral or immoral, not our limited minds.
Just a few decades ago, Nazi Germany distinguished itself for animal rights (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_welfare_in_Nazi_Germany)

and by the way, we are commanded by the Torah against causing unnecessary pain to the animal kingdom.

What I understand is the following: G-d commanded us to use animals for karbanos thereby teaching us that killing animals for this purpose is not only moral, it’s actually a beautiful thing. This mitzvah is the only mitzvah that is called pleasing to G-d because it’s something that doesn’t make sense to our limited minds and our small understanding. When we fulfill this commandment even though we don’t understand why we would do such a thing, something which contradicts morals we gleaned earlier in the Torah- such as not wasting, not killing a living being- we are pleasing G-d Almighty… Read more »
