The rainfall that began on Shabbos was badly needed and much appreciated, with Kinneret officials reporting on Tuesday, 28 Cheshvan, 5773 the level has increased by 3 centimeters.
It brought new records to many areas, and for many cities and municipalities, they surpassed average rainfall for the month according to meteorologists.
But they have also led to flooding in areas of the Ma’aras HaMachpela in Chevron during the early afternoon hours.
The 30 cm of water was significant enough that visitors were not permitted to enter the site.
Jewish officials in charge of the holy site said they have been trying for years to seal off the shed that causes the leaking, but have been blocked on the bureaucratic level and the Muslim Waqf authority.
“It cannot be that one of the most sacred places for the Jewish people should be in such a shameful situation,” said Yossi Dayan, head of the religious council of Kiryat Arba in Chevron.
“This is a humiliating situation that should be unthinkable. I call on the authorities to intervene and settle the issue.”
Go in and blast them. WE have to consider THEIR feelings when helige neshamas are taken from us? They are like rats, they’ll soon run.
