There are reports of duplicate charges on American Express credit-cards for purchases made at Crown Heights vendors, COLlive has learned.
The duplicate charges were caused by glitches in the credit card processing during the month of June.
One local resident, married with two children, told COLlive that when he contacted several Kingston Avenue merchants about the duplicate charges, they apologized and promised to refund him.
However, as they didn’t automatically fix the problem (without his calling), he wanted to make everyone aware of the issue, and suggest that they look over their AMEX June bill.
MSNBC reported similar errors in credit and debit card processing during Memorial Day weekend.
Starbucks Corp. accidentally charged as many as one million customers twice for their purchases over a two-day period.
“It was a computer glitch,” Starbucks spokeswoman Trina Smith admitted. The coffee company then credited the accounts for the accidental double charge.
I use a credit card processor and a few times a year I’ll get a call about a double charge. It happens, there’s not much you can do about it except to apologize and refund the money.
to #1: you will be getting your statement for June in the month of July – hello!
To #2: some people make fairly large purchases with credit cards, and even a few dollars of yiddishe gelt is important. If it’s all the same to you, maybe u would like to reimburse everyone their “couple of dollars”
