Aliya Crown Heights Meets Aliya Melbourne

This week Rabbi Moishe Feiglin, director of Aliya in Crown Heights, had the special opportunity to tour the newly renovated Aliya branch of Melbourne, Australia.

Rabbi Feiglin and his wife Sara created Aliya (Alternative Learning Institute for Young Adults) in Crown Heights in 2001 with brochos from the Rebbe. The goal was “Inreach”. To apply the shlichus outreach concept to our own the same way we do it so successfully to the outside world.

The much-needed concept has grown in leaps and bounds in every way possible over the past 20 years including seeing the opening of 5 International Aliya branches.

The Chabad Inreach Aliya concept now exists in Miami (called “The Center”), Manchester, England, Melbourne, Australia, and Aliya and Aliya Girls Loft in Crown Heights.

Each branch is becoming increasingly popular with numbers constantly on the rise and many young lives from within the frum county really being transformed physically, spiritually, emotionally, and in every possible way.

This past week Rabbi Feiglin was in Melbourne for his father’s 70th birthday and was honored to join Aliya Melbourne for their Sunday morning Shachris and Breakfast Club.

Yakov Feiglin, who started Aliya Melbourne in 2010 and now lives in Houston, TX was also in town for his father’s birthday also joined and was extremely impressed to see their tremendous progress.

Menny Overlander, who is now the official Shliach of Aliya Melbourne, was himself an Aliya guy during his teenage years and turned his life around at Bais Menachem, Wilkes Barre. Menny is doing a phenomenal job giving back to the young souls in Melbourne.

“It was very impressive. It had the perfect fusion of gashmius and ruchnius and the Aliya staple warm unconditional love and embrace by Rabbi Menny Overlander when you walk in,” said Rabbi Moishe Feiglin.
