Machon Smicha is an online, halachah-learning institute that makes learning, getting tested, and receiving Smicha possible. Offering rigorous Halachah programs across a broad spectrum of topics, the Machon enables learners to grow and succeed in their Torah learning, from the novice to the scholar.
The primary goal of Machon Smicha is to empower people to achieve success in their learning, as well as enjoy their learning. And to achieve that goal, the Machon Smicha team created the “Translated and Explained Shulchan Aruch.”
The Translated and Explained Shulchan Aruch contains, in addition to an elucidated translation of the Shulchan Aruch text, introductions to each halachah with relevant background information, in-depth Discussions and Explanations exploring the commentaries on the Shulchan Aruch, as well as contemporary applications for each halachah.
“Having taught close to a thousand students over the past few years, we know how overwhelming it can be when one starts to learn for Smicha,” says Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Kesselman, Director of Machon Smicha. “We want to give everyone, whether they are officially enrolled in our Smicha program or not, the opportunity to get started on the right foot. So we decided to offer our Translated and Explained Shulchan Aruch on the beginning part of Smicha for free to everyone.”
