The Torah Academy in Johannesburg was host to Temimim from all around South Africa over Shabbos.
The school’s shluchim worked with the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim to arrange for the talmidim of Torah Academy to be joined by the students of Machon Lehoro’oh in Pretoria, as well as Shluchim to Cape Town, Sydenham Shul and Chabad House.
Dozens of bochurim from around the country converged on the school’s campus for an unforgettable Shabbos spent with Scholar-In-Residence, Rabbi Shais Taub.
This Shabbos was one of a series of regional Shabbatons around the world, hosted by the Vaad as a Hachana to Gimmel Tammuz.
Kicking off with a breakfast and a talk by Rabbi Taub on Friday morning, the day continued with Mivtzoim by the participants. Being winter down in the Southern Hemisphere, candle lighting was as early as it gets (5:00 p.m.), and it was a rush to get the group picture taken in good time. But the early start of Shabbos allowed for a long Seduas Shabbos around beautifully set tables, which stretched into a late night farbrengen with Rabbi Taub.
Shabbos day was packed with shiurim, spirited davening, singing and dancing. The talmidim paired up with baalei batim to learn chassidus and joined in multiple farbrengens all around the Torah Academy that lasted the entire day.
The memory of this Shabbos will linger for a long time…
