Update: Please say Tehillim for Itta Efrat bas Aliza Rivka and Tamar bas Shulamis.

A car jumped a curb and injured several people in Crown Heights on Thursday, the first day of Yom Tov.
A black Hyundai and white Infiniti collided on busy Eastern Parkway at Kingston Avenue just before 7 p.m. Thursday. The white SUV hopped the curb and hit at least three pedestrians.
7 people were hurt in all, the 3 injured pedestrians were Lubavitchers.
A 20 year old woman was injured critically with internal injuries, another woman, around 40 years old, had her leg severed. They are both visitors from Israel. A young man suffered head trauma as well, from a falling street lamp.
The four other injured people were all inside of the vehicles. Two people suffered minor injuries and went to the hospital.
Two other people refused medical attention.
A man saw the accident and explained to Eyewitness News in French who he thinks is at fault.
“The black car take the red light. The white car have the green light. And then the white car went to the pole light,” said the man (translation).
As they looked at the crushed cars, residents explained that this is an incredibly dangerous intersection, and a spot they try their best to avoid.
“It’s hard to cross the street. Traffic is so quick. I see people texting. It’s very dangerous. There are a lot of kids in this area and people shouldn’t be driving fast,” said Morris Caple, a resident.

Our yom tov was especially inspiring. The chazzan davened so beautifully, it peirced my core and gave me the shivers. Besides for that, our fridge broke down on Thursday and most of our refridgerated food spoiled. Boruch hashem, we went to my in laws for the rest of yom tov and everything worked out. Gmar chasima tova!

her leg was not amputated, it came off when she was hit with the car,
we need a bridge going over EP from kingston like they have in many other such intersections
very very very important act now
Now that’s a great idea! We need 3 to make it work, in front of Oholei Torah, 770, and Chovovei Torah/Chanoch Lenaar.
What we really need is a pedestrian bridge over Eastern Parkway.
refuah shelama
THANK YOU TO ALL THE HATZOLAH MEMBERS WHO RESPONDED AND TO THEIR FAMILIES THAT WERE LEFT AT TASHLICH OR MISSING FROM THE HOUSE FOR 2 HOURS.

Just btw, for all those calling for speed bumps – speed bumps are not allowed when there are so many cars driving on the street. They can only go on side streets. Not possible for EP.

speed bumps are not necessary!!!!

I’ll say IY”H yom vov and zayin
yud alef
BS”D
Speed bumps on a thoroughfare is not practical
What is needed are cement walls at the curb to protect [pedestrians or even better a walking bridge over EP
In the meantime, what I always do when waiting for the light on Eastern Parkway- IS WAIT BEHIND THE POLE SO that a out on control car will hit the pole rather than a person
Please say tehilim for rochel bat pesya(20 yr old)
Noam bat limor nita.

I am so impressed with the achdus and sensitivity of Klal Yisroel. Joining together as one to make up the entire Sehillim. Out of all the acts of good deeds and kindness that I’ve seen the world do, this one beats it all. It inspires me to the core. I a so proud to have such inspiring brothers and sisters, dedicated to the wellbeing of each other. Mazl Tuv.
I’ll say yom yud

to always stand a few steps a way from the curb especially next to dangerous intersections
they need to have something like what they have in corner of Ocean AVe and AVe I, there used to be allot of accidents there but now its very organized
I’ll take yom daled and chof alef
Pics were taken by a non jew…
All you people attacking #18 when the fact is, as a driver myself it is the most ridiculous suggestion to put a speed bump on a major thorough fare like Eastern Parkway, what is needed is a signal light for the turning lane, for one. and possibly four foot poles around the corners of that intersection so that if a car did jump the curb these poles would take the brunt of it and stop the car. A turning signal light was put up on Brooklyn and Eastern Parkway as well as on Empire Blvd and Troy. Two corners which… Read more »
What of someone wants to request a speed bump on a side street? Say, there is a major hill in the moddle of the block and you can’t see cars coming when you are at the corner. The cars need to be slowed down. Info please.
we should all have a good sweet healthy happy new year!
I will say yom gimmel
I’ll do yom chof hey bli neder

Bli Neder i’ll do yom Beis,

For 13
Refuah shlaima
Tamar bas Shulamis
Itta Efrat bas Alizza Rivka
I’ll take yom aleph.
Lets help them the way we helped the baby a few months ago.
your logic defies all the basic rules of common sense. Um… maybe next time you’ll realize that the Fire depertment wont stop all their work because a speed bump is in middle of the road. The point of a speed bump is to slow down the traffic, therefore reducing the amount of accidents. (hopefully there wont be a next time…)
cameras, duh
my heart goes out for the injured.
to #18: if there is an emergency, one speed bump isnt going to stop the firemen from racing over to the scene. think…
I’m not getting the suggestion of speed bumps, this is quite a tragedy but does it make sense to put a bump on a major road like Eastern parkway? From the guys description a car ran a red light, would a speed bump stop someone from running a red light?!
I noticed that they got rid of the right lane on EP I think is a useless waste of space by bloomberg but if they did it for safety reasons perhaps they have a point.
No # 18 they want to slow down drivers that cause accidents so emergency personnel will not be needed in the first place (really brilliant logic # 18 btw that was sarcasm.
stop blaming everyone and say tihilim!
how are there pictures??
Any updates on their conditions?
Thank G-d the emergency personnel made it to the scene of the accident very quickly, do you want to slow them down by putting speed bumps?
A few weeks ago, a tourist from England had to have her legs amputated when a car jumped a curb in Manhattan.
Now this.
Who does one speak to in order to get speed bumps on their block? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.
Ita Efrat bat Aliza Rivka
their names need to go up in bold letter
needing urgent tehilim
collive please arrange for this asap
—– does anyone know their names?
Tamar bas Shulamis
Itta Efrat bas Alizza Rivka
Was her leg amputated?
The traffic division is too busy giving out tickets!!!
Drivers on Eastern Parkway know that all the intersections have green arrow lights that stop oncoming traffic and prevent such accidents. Davka Kingston has no arrow light. Where are the community leaders and our representatives on the community board? People have to lose limbs and blood for something to get done!
One name is Ita Efrat bas Aliza Rivka, around 20-21 yrs old
The name of the younger girl is I believe- itta efrat bas aliza rivka
sooo sad… whats their hebrew names please??
What is the matter with the traffic division police? Place stupid 1 FOOT Speed bumps at Brooklyn – another one at Kingston – another one at Utica… can you get the drift? Easy 123. My God – How many more people need to have their heads and legs blown off?????????????????
Amen
so sad. would not suggest watching the video…
The sound of the collision was like a bomb. It was so horrific. Ep was packed with people. My heart goes out to the injured. May they have a quick and speedy recovery
Anyone know the names/ages of those injured so we can daven and say tehillim for them??
