A Bris Milah ceremony for a Jewish child was held on Friday in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates.
The bris was for the son of a Jewish couple who moved to Abu Dhabi from Germany for business. They invited Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, Rabbi of the Berlin Jewish community, to officiated the Bris.
Chabad Berlin said it was “the first Jewish circumcision there” and that “It was a particularly impressive and moving experience!”
While in Abu Dhabi, Rabbi Teichtal met with Omar Saif Ghobash, assistant minister for cultural affairs in the Cabinet of the United Arab Emirates.
Ghobash, former UAE ambassador to France and Russia, is considered a thought leader on moderate Islam and the future of the Arab world. No details were given about the nature of their discussion.
During his visit, Rabbi Teichtal also met with Peter Fischer, the German ambassador to United Arab Emirates.
