“Mengele is dead – and Mangel is alive,” Rabbi Nissan Mangel, who at 10 years old was one of the young child inmates at the Auschwitz death camp, declared to thundering applause.
1300 people from across the Sacramento region came out this past Wednesday night to Rosevilleto hear his riveting story and his miraculous survival of the Holocaust.
Sharing his horrifying story of Auschwitz and his miraculous experience in surviving the Nazi atrocities, Rabbi Mangel underscored the reality that Hashem saved him and any other individual who survived.
His narrative sharply contrasts with other stories; whereas others may have lost their faith, Rabbi Mangel’s experience strengthened his. He encouraged his listeners to discover the hand of Hashem in their own lives.
Rabbi Mangel’s visit to the area began with a special farbrengen, at the home of Rabbi Yossi and Malkie Korik, for some of the close members of the Placer County Jewish community.

Rabbi Mangel shared some amazing stories of the Rebbe, as well many incidents of mesiras nefesh that he personally witnessed in Auschwitz.
One such experience was when he witnessed hundreds of yidden lining up in middle of the night to put on tefilin for a moment with the only pair in Auschwitz that his father had somehow smuggled in.
In the afternoon Rabbi Mangel had the opportunity to visit the Sacramento Jewish Academy and he spoke with students regarding the importance of children learning Torah. He also shared with them a few powerful stories of the Rebbe.
The school is the pioneer of Jewish education in the greater Sacramento region. It was founded by Rabbi Mendy and Dinie Cohen and is directed by the Koriks.
Rabbi Mangel’s visit greatly impacted the local Jewish community and the effects of his visit are sure to reverberate for many years to come.

Kol Hakvoed, may Hashem bless you and your family. Continue speaking to people… because most of the survivors are not with us anymore. My parents both survived the Holocust, are not alive. We need you to tell of the horrible atrocities committed to the Jewish people. May you be strong and wishes for good and healthy life.
