An overflowing crowd of more than 1,500 men and women gathered in Los Angeles on Yud Alef Nissan for a community-wide unity Farbrengen, marking the 120th birthday of the Rebbe.
The evening of music and inspiration was held at the historic Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, and featured renowned lecturers Rabbi Yossi Jacobson and Rabbi Mendel Kalmenson, and a musical tribute by Eli Marcus.
Rabbi Boruch Shlomo Cunin, director of West Coast Chabad-Lubavitch, began the evening with words of inspiration, and he displayed the first copy of the new West Coast Chabad-Lubavitch volume of the Sefer Hashluchim series, which he later placed on the Rebbe’s desk in 770.
Rabbi Yosef Shusterman led the crowd in the recitation of Tehillim, and Rabbi Avraham Zajac shared the new online daily 3-chapters Rambam series that was just launched together with Chabad.org in honor of Yud Alef Nissan.
The Farbrengen was dedicated to the loving memory of Rabbi Shimon Raichik, a noted Torah scholar and rabbinic leader, who led Chabad of Hancock Park, and was a member of the Rabbonei Chabad of California. Rabbi Raichik passed away on 20 Kislev at the age of 68.
The unity event was co-sponsored by West Coast Chabad-Lubavitch, Chabad of Hancock Park, Chabad House Publications, Chabad of N. Beverly Hills, Chabad of SOLA, Chabad Bais Bezalel, Chabad of Pacific Palisades, Chabad of Larchmont, Chabad of Beverlywood, Chabad Israel Center, Chabad of the Valley, Chabad of The Hills, Kol Yaakov Yehuda, Chabad of Malibu, Chabad of Brentwood, Chabad of North Hollywood, Ohel Avraham, Shaarei Tefila, The Orange Minyan, and Chabad of Century City.
