Jewish music talents Lipa Schmeltzer, 8th Day band, and Benny Friedman are teaming up to create one of the most exciting concerts ever to hit Los Angeles, organizers said.
The concert on Thursday, June 20, is being presented and sponsored by the Bais Chaya Mushka girls school at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.
Comedian and entertainer Modi will be the emcee. “With all this incredible talent on one stage this promises to be one spectacular show you don’t want to miss,” the producers said.
But for two of the performing stars, this event will have a personal aspect to it.
Shmuel and Bentzi Marcus of 8th Day, who both grew up in Southern California, and have settled there once they got married and built a family, are currently parents of students in the school.
“This school makes a real difference for our children,” says Shmuel, who also directs Chabad of Cypress in Los Alamitos. “We’re very excited to be a part of this amazing concert and to rock the house with our hometown crowd.”
Bentzi has already registered his daughter to the school which serves the greater Los Angeles area and has hundreds of students enrolled yearly.
“They have a great reputation,” he told COLlive.com. “They bring top notch education to young girls in the community. This concert will help raise the much needed funds to keep the school running at a high and well qualified level.”
As for Lipa, he said he always enjoys being in Los Angeles. “We are preparing an extra special show,” he said. “I can’t wait.”
Tickets will be available starting next week at JewishTickets.com and your local Judaica stores.
