The elevated plaza at Chabad Headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights is undergoing a complete renovation just ahead of the Tishrei month.
The plaza, which leads to the women’s section entrances as well as the main offices above 770 Eastern Parkway had been in a state of disrepair for years. Many of the stones had been loose and shaky, which caused the plaza to be dangerous for walking on as well as allowed water to leak into the Shul basement below.
The renovation project was coordinated by Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky, executive director of Machne Israel.
“We are grateful to an anonymous donor to Machne Israel, who has enabled us to renovate the plaza in preparation for the upcoming Tishrei month,” Krinsky told COLlive.com.
During Tishrei, thousands of visitors will arrive in Crown Heights, and the Shul will accommodate thousands for prayers during the High Holidays. The plaza also contains a Tashlich goldfish pool, which hundreds visit on Rosh Hashana to recite the customary prayer.
The renovations are expected to take up to a week, and include resetting and renovating the tiles and ensuring there are no leaks to the Shul, Machne Israel said.
B”H!!!
Please attend to this. It’s important also
The Kingston womens shul desparately needs some serious repairs
of the broken floors.
They actually just started fixing the Kingston women’s shul today
They are reinforcing the floor so it won’t feel like you are about to fall through the floor every day
Thanks for the good news.
I’d love to see the women’s side be made safe. When the boys need a space for learning, they redo the Kingston side beautifully but leave the broken parts of the women’s section there broken. Makes me wonder what we have to do to get the same consideration. and what the Rebbe and Rebbetzin would say if they saw the women being repeatedly neglected.
I spy Kalman Shuchat from Prime Roofing
Also the broken steps as you enter 770. People trip there
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Those pavers were treacherous, with gaps between the stones (some women’s shoe heels could get caught) and uneven, unstable stones everywhere. I’m so grateful this is being fixed!
Ditto! Yes thanks!
We the woman of Crown Heights sooo much appreciate this effort in fixing our Shul!!
Thank You! Thank You!!
Especially where the pavers meet the top of the staircase it has been seriously dangerous. I sure hope that this area will be properly fixed so as to ensure the women’s safety when so many of them are trying to get to the stairs.
Usually they only start preparing for Tishrei a few days before RH. Great to see things happening much further in advance this year. Yes those wobbly stones have been just another example of a safety hazard at 770 in dire need of repair.
I also found the tile very slippery! If you can put tiles that are not slippery when it rains or snows but have grip
Thank you Shmaya for taking the initiative!
Thank you Shmuli for making this happen!
Toronto is proud !!
