A special convention for young Chabad women and post-seminary age girls will take place during the upcoming Chof Beis Shvat convention in Crown Heights.
The Kinus is organized by two girls currently on Shlichus, Chayala Mentz of Bel Air, CA and Sara Elharrar of Los Angeles, CA with assistance from a board including Chaya Zirkind, Rivky Dubrawsky, Racheli Shatnani, Shterna Karp, Hindy Golomb, Mirel Deitsch, Chanie Mentz and Chaya Broner.
During the convention, hundreds of girls gather in Crown Heights to socialize with friends, enjoy gourmet meals, and receive a spiritual lift from workshops, sessions and events tailored just for them.
Many of the girls in this age group are already working as Shluchos, assisting in Chabad Houses around the world with programming, Hebrew Schools, Bar/Bat Mitzvah lessons and preschools, organizers told COLlive.
The sessions will tackle topics that are helpful to both girls who are on Shlichus for the year, as well as those who are looking to enhance their knowledge of chinuch and hashkafa.
“This year, we are expecting a larger crowd than ever in the spirit of Hahkel, as we all gather to inspire and recharge,” organizers said.
Thursday night’s schedule will include a trip to the Rebbe’s Ohel and an inspiring address by Mrs. Dina Hurwitz, Shlucha and the wife of a Shliach battling ALS.
On Friday night, a Chassidic farbrengen will be held with Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum, Tzivos Hashem Program Director.
A highlight of the program will be a Motzoei Shabbos concert and Melava Malka with popular singer Esther Freeman and talk by Mrs. Miriam Lipsker, inspirational speaker and co-founder and director of the Chabad Student Center at Emory University.
Participants will also have the opportunity to join the Kinus Hashluchos Gala Banquet Sunday evening.
Other speakers in the program are Rabbi Yossi Paltiel, Rabbi Shea Hecht, Rabbi Simon Jacobson, Rabbi Mendy Wolf, Mrs. Rivkah Krinsky, Mrs. Rivkie Katz, and Mrs. Chanchi Milecki.
Workshop sessions are open on a first come first serve basis.
