NYPD conducted a massive search at a home on Lefferts Avenue between Albany and Troy Avenues in Crown Heights on Thursday evening.
5 people, three Jewish males and two non-Jewish females, were taken into custody from the house, a police source said.
Police searched the house and found illegal narcotics, including cocaine and marijuana, a Police source said.
A sixth suspect fled the scene, and a search via helicopter ensued. Police caught up with the suspect, a Jewish male, on the roof of the Bnos Menachem School building on East New York Avenue.
Nearby residents are breathing a sigh of relief that Police have arrested the drug ring in the home known to neighbors as “the crack house,” one resident told COLlive.
“Jewish neighbors on the block all knew about this group of youngsters and mid-age guys and girls who were always hanging around this house,” the resident said.
“The house was known for suspicious activity, with new faces constantly seen coming and going, especially in the evenings,” another neighbor told COLlive. “The house attracted even very young boys living nearby. Some bystanders today said that a local Chabad resident led the agents to finally bust the group,” he said.
