Camp Gan Israel in Parksville, New York, is welcoming top Chabad-Lubavitch rabbis and scholars for the annual summit Yarchei Kallah.
40 Roshei Yeshivos, Mashpiim and Halacha authorities from around the world were present at the opening session Thursday morning.
The host, Rabbi Avraham Shemtov, who chairs Agudas Chassidei Chabad and the camp, said in his opening remarks: “This is the only forum for Gedolei Torah of such caliber.”
The Talmudic-era gathering was renewed some 30 years ago by Shemtov to honor Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson OBM, Kabbalist and father of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
In their first of the four summit days, the rabbis discussed the status and level of education given in today’s Lubavitch Yeshivos.
But the more animated discussions are at the sessions, when the rabbis make a point to debate various topics in Gemara and Halacha.
Rabbi Yechiel Kalmenson, Rosh Yeshiva in Brunoy, France, spent considerable time tackling questions when he spoke about the right a king has to forgive his honor.

Try telling all the impressionable confused boys out there about ”the lofty levels that they ascend to when they smoke. . ” they’ll also tell you that THEY want to ascend to those levels and thats why THEY ‘LL smoke too. . how can you give that as an excuse . . its so unfair to put such pics for public viewing . . and confuse them further . . a bit more consideration is needed here . .
