A shocking incident occurred in Manchester, England on Shabbos, the first day of Rosh Hashanah.
During an outdoor Minyan at Chabad of Manchester, one of 2 Torahs that were in an Aron suddenly fell to the ground.
The shul was holding the Rosh Hashana Davening outdoors, in the large courtyard of the Shul on Singleton Road, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Sefer Torahs were placed in a wooden Aron Kodesh, and unfortunately, during the Birkas Kohanim, a heavy gust of wind blew one of the Torahs onto the ground.
The incident, which would have been distressing at any time, was especially troubling due to it occurring on the holy day of Rosh Hashana, and caused great pain and shock to the shul’s congregants who witnessed it.
The Shliach and Rov of the Shul, Rabbi Mendel Cohen, announced that he will ask the advice of the Rabbonim what should be done to rectify this painful incident.
Chassimi Ein Mishpacha. Please update what the Rav says. If we need to join in fast, let us do so all over.
Agreed! Let us know what we can do to join you in rectifying this.
So many shocking happenings lately. Moshiach now
I think there’s a difference when a person drops a Torah c”v or if it falls on its own, as what happened here.
Of course a Torah should never fall, but i believe its much more serious when it falls out of the hands of a person.
