New York – A plane has clipped wings with another plane while taxiing at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the right wing of EgyptAir Flight 986, a Boeing 777 headed to Cairo, touched the left wing of London-bound Virgin Atlantic Flight 4C.
It happened just after 7 p.m. Monday. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says both planes returned to the terminal. Officials say the Virgin Atlantic, an Airbus A333, had to be towed.
The FAA is investigating.
I was there when it happened 777 took the most damage but didint penetrate the fuel tanks no risk of fire just structural damage
#1 was just trying to wing it!
The fuel in planes is jet-a fuel which is not very flammable unless first heated. as well even if it was flammable u would need a spark to Ignite it.
And the fuel is in the middle of the wings so chances are that from the tips of the wings clipping
the fuel tanks would not have been punctured.
So it is a big deal that the wings clipped for many other reasons but fire would be one of the last
Just thought I would share this info
Just a small fender bender
BS”D The guy made a joke (# 1) and look how bent out of shape you all get, get a life
What’s a few tens of thousands of dollars in delays and repairs anyway…
About “no big deal” it is. Cuz the fuel is in wings. And can creat fire
“ No big deal “ ???
They were just high-fiving
