Crown Heights Shmira and the NYPD are investigating 2 separate violent hate crime incidents that occurred on Tuesday night in Crown Heights.
The first incident occurred at approximately 11:30PM near Lefferts Ave and Albany Ave when the suspect unprovokedly walked over to the victim and punched him in the face while yelling “free Palestine” and other anti-Semitic slurs. He was injured and treated for his injuries. The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a black hoodie with red strips and shorts.
The second incident occurred at approximately 12:30AM near Troy Ave and East NY Ave. A Jewish woman walking home was also unprovokedly approached by 2 suspects who hurled insults such as “we don’t like you Jews” and then proceeded to throw a construction cone in attempt to hit her. One suspect appeared to be in his 20s, while the second one is in his 50s, bald-headed, and wearing a back brace.
Crown Heights Shmira responded to and searched for the suspects in both incidents. The NYPD is currently investigating them as hate crimes.

Why is it that our community leaders cannot focus on what matters, security for the community. We all want to feel safe, but we don’t get to have it. Why?
Have any of the newly elected community leaders looking into this? Anyone on top of it? This isn’t the first incident L”A in the community in the last few weeks.
Besuros Tovos
Seems like 4-5 hours after this came up. With all the frustrated comments from the טייערע residents of CH. There is a meeting being called by the newly electors on this issue (and others).
I can not conclude without thanking COL-LIVE. For bringing this to the forefront of our attention.
May you guys always & only have Simchas and good news to relate.
ישר כוח על עבדותך.
There is no safety unless our community vote out all the Democrats
What exactly do you want the community leaders to do about the crime? They don’t have a say over the jail laws
Try not to walk so late at night in quieter streets.
Everyone should be safe!
Jews should be able to walk anywhere and everywhere at any time without experiencing antisemitism. Try not to blame the victims.
Unless you live in a jungle where self-defense is forbidden.
We live in bizzaro world where jail time is too cruel for the violent criminals but just fine for any law abiding peaceful citizen defending themselves.
It’s been designed like that on purpose to oppress our community and other like minded neighbors…
last week someone was carjacked at GUNPOINT on union and albany(not exactly the edge of town) around 8:00pm. doesnt help, Police and the community council MUST do their jobs.Shomrim & Shmira needs to keep cleaning up their mess day in day out.
There must be 24/7 serious patrol in CH and beyond , even more – at night .
This is a non- negotiable must , especially being that the Crown Heights borders have expanded .
Uh no
There needs to be a total shutdown of every shelter and free gvt housing in our neighborhood, along with locking up every violent repeat offender and their enablers (ie. the politicians).
Absolutely clean elections.
And of course the right to stand your ground and protect/defend your life, family and property without the threat of the injustice system.
Oh and universal school choice so the sane religious parents can raise their children to be like minded and create a thriving prosperous community for themselves (especially in the black community) without gvt interference…
Private, charter, and parochial schools can help lessen the problem ONLY if the parents choosing to send their kids to such schools are intellectually honest enough to stop blaming Jews for whatever problem their particular minority is dealing with. Frankly, I don’t see the Thomas Sewell kind of honesty this requires as prevalent among the minority communities of Crown Heights as it ought to be, and that goes for every sector of the minority community, both the educated and the undereducated.
Are you ready to do a shift? At night?
crown heights community had back in the 70s a hired patrol
and we had volunteer patrol
lets get back to basics
were is the vadd ?
Shouldn’t they be patrolling to prevent these heinous crimes from occurring?!
It’s time to move out of crown heights into a safer and more civilized neighborhood
Without hoodlums living in it
Chas vshalom! You’re going against everything our Rebbe stood for! Back then, the situation was much worse than people getting punched in the face. And the Rebbe still said that we should stay! Chas vshalom to even consider this!
Now and previously given in these situations.
Is it possible to look to other communities like Williamsburg as an example ,,who may be more successful, and the greater police department who may offer practical advice.etc vchooloo Hartzlacha RABAH Umuflagah!
Have you not noticed that incidents like this are happening all over the world, r”l ? A twelve year-old girl in France, old and young in many places in Europe, in California….
We need unity, and we all need Hashem’s protection wherever we are……..
