The first yartzeit of R’ Mordechai Goldin, who passed away last year at the age of 59, was marked Thursday in Crown Heights.
Hundreds of his friends and relatives gathered in Lubavitch Yeshiva hall for the event which recalled the beloved Crown Heights resident renowned for his kindness towards others and the many lives he touched.
The MC for the event was R’ Mordechai’s oldest son Zev Goldin, who spoke and introduced a video presentation of R’ Mordechai’s life.
The video started out from his childhood with Eli, his brother, describing how Mordechai would bring home every wounded animal he found to nurse them back to health. It then continued on with Mordechai’s Yeshiva days and Shabbos club, and finally with his fellow community members.
The underlying factor was that Mordechai impacted them in more ways than one just by being himself and truly caring about another before himself. Participants were greatly moved by the video and truly inspired by the life of R’ Mordechai.
The video was produced by R’ Mordechai’s son Pinny Goldin, with editing done by his daughter, Miriam and Achaystudios (Ariah Israeli).
The event then continued with a Dvar Torah from Moshe Goldin, which led into a farbrengen with Rabbi Galpern which went on until 4:00 am.
May we hear good news. May his neshamah have an aliyah. He is very missed

would love to watch the video compilation.
The event moved me to do. It just epitomized the sense of urgency and care that mordachai put into matters of Jewish children and the rebbes work
Mordechai was a wonderful member of the CH community and he is missed tremendously by adults and children. MOSHIACH NOW
