17 Chassidic members of the Crown Heights Jewish community traveled to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Tuesday, to donate plasma which may help coronavirus patients.
The group traveled to the Miller-Keystone Blood Center in Bethlehem, 1.5 hours from New York, to donate plasma after being informed that they were eligible to donate following a testing drive in Crown Heights.
Nearly 1,000 people turned out for the antibody testing drive in Crown Heights last week.
Many residents in the Crown Heights community had contracted and recovered from the coronavirus, so they may be eligible to join the drive to donate plasma which can potentially save the life of a coronavirus patient.
The COVID-19 IGG antibody testing drive was organized by Crown Medical PC, The Gedaliah Society, Hatzalah of Crown Heights, Kamin Health, and Lakewood Bikur Cholim, partnering with the Mayo Clinic.
The plasma kits were provided by the Mayo Clinic, one of the world’s premier medical institutions.
The Crown Heights event joins other testing events in Jewish communities in Flatbush, Boro Park, Lakewood and Baltimore, in which thousands of Orthodox Jews lined up to donate plasma.
But why all the way in Bethlehem? I’m sure tons more people would donate plasma if it were more local. Many people don’t have a car to get there and back
They apparently have enough donated plasma in NYC and wanted them to go to an area that didn’t have much
was transportation provided? We never got notice, although we were notified re antibodies
Thank you for your selfless acts of kindness!! Hashem should repay you with all good!!
Bring plasma drive to CH
When will there be another drive in Brooklyn (even outside C. Hts.)???
I would drive to another nearby city to donate my plasma if it would help!
