As a preparation for the upcoming holiday of Shavuos, which is an auspicious time for learning by Jewish children, the boys in Torah Acadamy Primary School in Johannesburg participated in a rally marking the completion of their Mishnayos Baal Peh program.
Together the boys learned by heart 1,431 lines of mishnayos.
The rally started off with Hashliach Mendy Ulman saying the hayom yom and the reciting of the 12 Pesukim, followed by a speech given by the founder of the program, Yossi Minsky, a bochur in the yeshiva Gedolah Johannesburg.
“Every boy here is a winner,” said Minsky. “You all chose to get up early in the morning every week, instead of getting that extra 30 minutes of sleep in your comfortable beds, to learn mishnayos! The Rebbe is proud of every single one of you!”
Each participant received a certificate for their excellence and outstanding achievements.
To end off the rally a grand raffle was made for an xbox 360 as well as other prizes.
After the event a parent described the program as “an amazing initiative by the bochurim. I feel so lucky my son was a part of this,” he said.
