The tenth graduating group of Menachem Education Foundation’s acclaimed Teacher Induction Program joined the ranks of over 150 Chabad mechanchim who have been professionally trained in the skills needed to succeed in the classroom.
In the chag Hasiyum held this summer, the 12 teachers each spoke about how the yearlong intensive program impacted their classroom instruction and how the skills they learned were rooted in the Chassidishe approach to Chinuch.
It has been a decade since the MEF’s first teacher training program was established to provide Mechanchim with the tools needed to deliver the highest quality education to their students. Since that time, an ongoing dialogue within the Chinuch community has developed as teachers constantly strive to give their students the best.
The curriculum of the Teacher Induction Program, which was specially designed by leading Mechanchim and Menahalim to meet the needs of the Chassidishe mechanech, focuses on four main domains: The teacher – how to be a Chassidishe Mechanech, the teaching – lesson planning and delivery, the student – strategies for classroom management and student rapport and the Learning – a comprehensive look at standards and assessment.
The 12 trainees, who participated in a yearlong academic forum online as well as individualized coaching, include Rabbis Yisroel Dovid Shmueli, Zalman Friedman, Mordy Seewald, Eli Solomon, Simcha Raskin, Yossi Grosh, Shloime Segelman, Akiva Nussbaum, Yosef Chaim Sufrin, Yosef Rivkin, Yechezkel Ackerman, and Menachem Lifshitz.
Rabbi Shmueli said that implementing a changing Chavrusa technique that the cohort had practiced in one of the workshops in his own classroom had greatly enhanced his Talmidim’s learning.
Guest speaker Rabbi Levke Kaplan congratulated the mechanchim on their accomplishments and spoke of the great responsibility of education, encouraging the graduates to never lose focus on reaching every student. The program’s director, Rabbi Zelig Silber, awarded each graduate with his diploma.
MEF congratulates its graduates, and all those who make Chinuch their Shlichus. Applications are now being accepted for next year. For more information about the Teacher Induction Program, visit www.myMEF.org or contact [email protected]/718-663-7215.
