A new Shidduch grant program will pay $10,000 for a successful Shidduch match to the matchmaker. But, there’s a catch.
The new Eishes Lapidus Organization, funded by philanthropist Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz, will pay a Shadchan – matchmaker the large sum for the successful match of an Orthodox Jewish couple who meets specific criteria.
The woman must be over the age of 25, and has to be getting married for the first time. The boy must be the same age (within 1 year) or younger.
Anyone (regular people and not just professional shadchans) can make a shidduch and qualify for this grant.
Anyone who would like to sign up for the grant can sign up here and fill in the form before the couple begins dating, a website for the organization states. If they get engaged and meet the criteria, the Shadchan will receive $10,000.
“After hearing the cries and desperate pleas of thousands of Bnos Yisroel and their parents, Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz decided to transform his frustration into action,” the organization’s web site states. As an incentive for people to work on shidduchim for older girls, Rechnitz offered the supplement shadchanus money for girls over 25 who marry a boy their own age or younger.
“It is our hope, that every older single who had to endure this nisayon, will find her zivug b’karov,” they say.
