Jews from around the US will be protesting today’s harsh sentence handed down for Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin.
Rallies will be held in Boro Park, Los Angeles and other locations around the world.
Rabbi of the Chabad community in Nachalas Har Chabad, Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yeruslavski called on the Israeli community to gather in Rubashkin’s merit, with groups praying at the Kotel and Mearas Hamchpela as well as other holy sites.
Brooklyn’s event will be held Monday, June 21, at Bais Yaakov at 4420 15th Avenue in Boro Park, at 9 PM.
Buses will leave from Crown Heights from Kol Tuv supermarket, and from President Street and Kingston Avenue at 8:15pm.
Prominent lawyer Nathan Lewin will be speaking about his close involvement in the bank fraud charges against Rubashkin, a former manager of the Agriprocessors plant in Postville, Iowa.
Pinchos Lipshutz, publisher and editor of the Yated Neeman, will be speaking about the overzealous prosecution against Rubashkin that his haredi weekly was been reporting about throughout the case.
COLlive.com – Chabad Lubavitch Community News Service will be broadcasting the event live to Jewish communities and individuals from around the world, with many other haredi websites providing COLlive’s video webcast to their readers around the world.
The Los Angeles community has called an emergency protest rally for Monday evening, with speakers Rabbi Yakov Krause, Rabbi Ezra Schochet and Sholom Mordechai’s son Meir Simcha Rubashkin.
The event will take place at the Moshe Ganz Hall at 8:45 PM.
Is this justice? a man is sentenced to 27 years in prison because a bank lost 27 million dollars. Lets observe some obviously mitigating factors: The governments hysterical action was a major cause or in the very least a partial cause of the banks loss because its raid pulled the trigger causing the closing of the plant and the calling in of the loan. Even if the raid was on legitimate grounds, financial losses as a result of the raid are not the sole responsibility of the company, as the government could have chosen a method which would have protected… Read more »

WHY DON”T WE HAVE SOMETHING IN CH?
to number 26, would you say that if it was you or a family member chas v’shalom? I can’t believe you could say that at a time like this. Save it for the appropriate time and place if there is a time that someone, especially the family wants to hear it. How insensitive can you be? Think about it.

when will the link to the live video feed be up?
Clearly the judge is trying to make an example of SMR to instill fear into the hearts of other frum yidden so that they will think twice before engaging in illegal activity.
Also I think that all the fuss and lobbying only made things worse if someone is an anti semite it would only make them want to give a harsher sentence.
This lady judge is going to be an absolute hero in the red neck anti semetic mid west.
first off anythign can change…nothing is set in stone
second, hashem is THE JUDGE and all hashem wants is our tefillos, obviously there arent enough! At this rally im sure tehillim will be said, accomlishing just what needs to be done.
Get on that bus (or even at home) daven! daven! daven!
We don’t know what Hashem is doing this 4 but it must be gam zu l’tovah in some way
true Mr 18 but if you don’t make an outcry , then nothing will be accomplished.
does anyone know if the rallies will be live?
if the judge see’s how many people came to protest she will imyirta hashem change her mind. also if the media gets on it it will bring imbarrasment to her and she will change her mind.
they didn’t make the sentence yet it will be on tuesday
eis tzoroh he leYa’akov umimenoh yivosheyoh.!
All these rallies only accomplishes awareness of the horrific situation that Sholom and his family are experiencing. To have the verdict changed totally, we have to kerr velten so that the goyisheh velt will hear and react., and the soynei Yisroel will have a mapoloh!
Torah Tefilloh Utzedokoh maavirin as royah hagzeiroh.
what about a rally in crownheights??????
your iced tea turned in to some type of alcohol take a nap and wake up right
you know if you have connections. now is the time to use them!! please do not hesitate!!
WHAT WILL PROTESTING THE VERDICT TODAY ACCOMPLISH. THEY ARE NOT RESCINDING ANYTHING. THEY CANT THE SENTENCE IS A SENTENCE NO?
“Shreck undz g-t nurr shtruff undz nete.” Is it possible that this ” judge ” (och un vai) plans to issue a verdict that is SO rediculous it is sure to be overturned when it is appealed? Surely we will be yohtzay with the scare alone;amen kain y’hi ratzone. Rebbe, beseech Hashem for your chossid Sholom Mordechai ben Rivkah that he- and we, by extension – experience a v’nahapoch hu that will im yirtzeh Hashem bring a Kiddush Hashem throughout the world. To clothe it in teva, we ought to rally and send an unspoken message to our elected officials that… Read more »
and it will change venahafoch hu
I think all of you folks reacting in shock & anger are missing the point: ordering such a severe sentence almost guarantees that it will be overturned, so cheer up.

what has happened to this world…..its CRAZ Y!
you got to protest all around the world this is more importent the flotilia
There will be a rally tomorrow outside the courthouse . Anyone in the midwest who can attend should do so. Buses are being organized from different states — call 917 703 6915 for details. There will be a mass demonstration in manhattan in about a week. we’ll keep everyone updated.
Does anyone know if there is anything arranged form crown heights to boro park?
In light of the foregoing, the court finds that the appropriate sentence is 324 months
of imprisonment, followed by 5 years of supervised release. Defendant shall be required
this is the final verdict
to pay restitution as follows: (1) $18,525,362.88 to FBBC; (2) $8,322,989.12. to MBFB;
and (3) $3,800.51 to Waverly Sales, Inc. Defendant shall not be required to pay a fine.
We need to plan something huge and give everyone achance to get organized for it. it should be planned by all communities combined and bring a minimum of a half million. this is about wrong justice in America.
what more we need to have the marit to see moshach nooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.how much more we have to take.
with all due respect to Nathan Lewiln. Why isn’t there a mega mass physical demonstration arranged in front of the courthouse where this rishante is sitting in Judgement. I wonder how many bribes she has taken her capacity as judge and acts so holier than thou??? she should either pagher today, or Hashem should perform a Nes and do like he did with Amalek of yesteryear, put the words NOT GUILTY into her poisonoous mouth!!!!
May Hashem teach this machsheifa compassion through pain and suffering!
we need to run protest articles in major media outlets, not just in jewish mainstream publications, we need to make noise in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, time magazine, fortune magazine, any and all business or news outlets, weather its an open-ed, paid ad, or letters to the editor.
I think whoever has any connections in any of such outlets needs to publish this story and compare similar cases with lesser punishments.
