mendel,
forget about the competition, you don’t need it to jumpstart your career.
I’m sure you’ll make it further than anyone if you launch a CD.
you have great talent!
please let us enjoy more of your singing and great heart!
I’ll be the first to buy your CD!

I’ve been wanting to record the Ari song for years now, but I’m missing some of the lyrics – if I can figure them all out I’d be glad to record and share… btw DB I still remember like it was yesterday standing by the dumpster across the field from the dorm in kfar with you and LN. We sang the Ari song over and over with all of our hearts in the wee hours of the morning, it was a truly inspiring night 🙂

I met Mendel in Israel about 15 years ago around the time of the first yahrzeit of my dear friend Hakadosh Ari Halberstam. Mendel composed a touching melody to a song that had been written in Ari’s memory. His musical talent is truly unparalleled. Thanks Mendel for then and now.

Hopefully Pesha Laya is standing before the Kisei Hackovod right now and bringing her argument of the AIbershters being full . Her poems resonate her pain of the Galus.Dear friends pick up the phone and call someone that you are enstranged from and in the spirit of Ahavas Yisroel we will merit MOashiach NOW. Let us be an example to our children and students of true Ahavas Yisroel

Wow!

To Mendel Markel

Or should I say Mendel Marvel, how you adapted her lyrics into that composition truely does justice to her heartfelt cry to the aibishter. Her plea to hashem which is dominant in her lyrics touches the cord of each and everyone of us, It’s so sincere yet at the same time, it’s a personel note to hashem coming from a place deep within a person who demanded answers and had no quams being explicit to hashem To the point where no lyracist has gone before I belive it’s high time we got the answers leah so brilliantly asked for Leah… Read more »

I truly and sincerely appreciate your appreciation (and everyone elses), but I do want to point out that the 10 contestants who made it to round 2, in addition to being talented, worked very hard both on making videos that they felt would be popular with the public as well as on promoting themselves, neither of which I did in the least. I set out to teach a Nigun and build interest in R’ Zalmen Levin’s work and I feel I succeeded at that with my submission. At the same time I knew from the start that many will not… Read more »

that's real talent

the fact that Markel didn’t even make it in top 10 despite his talent in singing so many styles and his ability to compose… proves that the contest doesn’t reflect on reality.

impressed

what a beautiful legacy she left. may her family be comforted. what an inspiration.
good on mendel markel for doing something so concrete and useful that will touch so many people.

M. Markel — amazing !!
I read the poem to my students that tragic day.
It was so moving and the timing quite ironic… Now, it’s even more emotional with your song. Thanks for sharing it…
