S. Augustine is the oldest _continuously inhabited_ city in the USA. Pensacola was founded a few years earlier, but then abandoned and only later resettled.

nearby city. But I never heard Pensacola has the distinction of being the oldest city in the USA. I thought I learned maybe S. Augustine Florida is.
