The Kinus HaMechanchim will be addressed by an array of outstanding chinuch personalities during the two-day conclave 26-27 Tammuz, July 9th and 10th.
The Kinus is a project of the Merkos Chinuch Office, directed by Rabbi Nochem Kaplan, through the Association of Chabad Professional Education Leaders.
A similar Kinus for Mesivta mechanchim will be held one week earlier, through the Igud haMesivtas, led by Rabbi Mendel Itzinger, another Merkos Chinuch Office division.
The Kinus will focus on four themes which are uppermost in the minds of mosdos chinuch today. The first, and most fundamental objective of all chinuch enterprises, is to inculcate Emunah and Yiras Shamayim, without them we have nothing. On this theme, Rabbis Nachman Twersky and Aharon D. Gancz, will make major presentations. Both have written and spoken with eloquence and in practical terms about the “how” of it.
The Kinus will also focus on practical pedagogy. Rabbi Yehuda Hedingsfeld, the famous practitioner of Kinesthetic Kriyah, Rabbi Chananya Hoffinger of the Gomorah Academy will present. In addition, seven master mechanchim will present on their greatest achievement.
A special focus section for menahlim, Focus of Administration, will be featured. Dr. Naftali Hoff will make a number of presentations on principals as successful team leaders and on successful school-wide strategies to prevent bullying.
Secondly, the Kinus will focus on the theme: School must be a safe environment. A school must be a safe environment if children are to flourish; protected from physical and psychological harm and free of social abuse so that the climate which prevails must be properly nurturing. Dr. David Pelovitz will address this theme.
Add to this an evening farbrengen and the result is complete immersion into chinuch.
“We don’t feature any ‘fluff,” said Rabbi Avrohom Wolowik from Baltimore, chair of the event. “Every presentation is a serious treatment of a major chinuch concern. The result is ultimately a better chinuch experience for thousands of children.”
Registration for the Kinus is now open at chinuchoffice.org
Not anymore. Teaching is a hard job. You are not teaching if you have nothing else to do
Its a sickness that teachers are considered less than human. Parents view teachers as people who can’t be successful elsewhere and therefore take up teaching. Why do parents think this? Because when they have to look after their own kids for one day when there’s no school they go crazy and therefore canmot fathom why any sane human being would become a teacher and have to deal with this kids everyday.
Please show respect and admiration for every teacher and your child will gain greatly
Unfortunatley as we know, many of the mechanchim in our moisdois are there for the convenience of a job.
Please educate yourselves on how to engage a student, understand each and everyone of your students, and more than everything value them for who they are.
It is time to give up “you don’t fit the box” and make the box fit each student.
Hatzlocha, and may each teacher have eyes that see, and understand.
As a teacher for over 20 years, I look forward to these events in order to NETWORK. Please go light on the amount and time of workshops, and give more time to meet and farbreng with each other. THAT is the best time spent.
