Operation Survival’s releases children’s safety video, “Inner Voice, Better Choice”, starring popular Jewish singer Eli Marcus, and local Yeshiva students.
The music video presents real life scenarios where children are confronted with a challenge and have to rely on their understanding of safe choices and their good decision making skills in order to prevail. The video is aimed at children from ages 6 to 12 but is sure to be a hit with the entire family.
“There are several videos readily available that address some of these topics for children but none that are culturally appropriate for Anash” said Miriam Simon, assistant program director at Operation Survival. “Creating relatable material for children is key to their adopting the modeled behaviors’ said Simon.
Among the educators who were consulted on this project are Mrs. Dena Gorkin, renowned children’s book author Mrs. Devorah Leah Rosenfeld, and, Shlomo Mahana,CPP.
Produced and directed by Chaim Hershkowitz from Eight19 Productions, Inner Voice, Better Choice was filmed at Lubavitcher Yeshiva, Beis Ruvkah and on the streets of Crown Heights.
The video was made possible with the help of the office of Sen. Jesse Hamilton and NYS OASAS.
why be soo pessimistic about a cute music video that was so worked hard on giving a very nice message to young children??? get on with life and start looking at things with a more optimistic perspective!!
i am not a 70 year old just sharing my thought… thats what the comment section is for… its not called praises its called comments…
From number nine, Im not sure how what your comment said had anything to do with what I said. But If I understood you correctly you were basically saying that it’s important to educate our kids and not to be too tznius about and by educating them they won’t have to look elsewhere. This actually has nothing to do with what I said which is that we can prevent child abuse by teaching hilchos yichud and is also a mantra that just keeps being repeated without being thought about. I actually think education is important, it just has to be… Read more »
Eli Marcus the most important thing is make everyone happy at weddings and all other events keep up the spirit and keep up the good work
Who wants to break the news?
Our inner voice is our yetzer horah. We should teach our kids not to listen to our yetzer horah!
Nefesh elokis just keeps us alive mitzad HaShem being mehave everything at all times.
this is amazing
It doesn’t look like this video was meant to address the lack of teaching about yichud to girls, or to be a frank talk about molestation prevention. It also doesn’t appear to be ignoring those issues due to being overly frum. It’s a very nice song about making good decisions and if even one child learns safer or kinder behavior from it (and I’m sure many will) then it was well worth the effort.
I agree with most of what you wrote, however I must point out that, sadly enough, even kids way above preschool age who have great and kind parents, will still exclude others because as the song pointed out “we’re better.” Kids don’t always have identical problems to their parents or friends, sometimes it’s just who they are, and therefore yes even 12 year olds can use a little bit or reminder to listen to their inner voice that’s telling them to include others. However ישר כח to you for pointing out that kids are being “protected” from something they NEED… Read more »
I know this is gonna seem radical…but what if we just focused on what the video DOES offer and comment on that instead of on all the things it doesn’t address? And what it does offer is a pleasant tune, a catchy phrase about good decision making and a positive message. To me that’s a winner and something I want my children to watch! Yasher Koach to the producers and of course Eli Marcus and the adorable kids!
you must be 70 year old… i showed to my kids and they have been singing it all day…
a job well done
kol hakavod
yasher koach

WELL MADE
Girls should definitely start learning it earlier then 11/12th grade…and do boys is even learn it at all?
A great start now need a follow up song to target older children too!!!Eli Marcus the best! It definitely brings awareness in a non scary way need to address in more detail
Thank you
It’s about time our community stopped sweeping things under the rug and taught our children how to handle the situations theyou face commonly today. Great job Chaim H!! Keep up the good work!!!
Eli is the best. And that’s it.
Dear Naive number 9. And we wonder why kids are going off the derech, getting into drugs and suffering from mental illness. It is an issue to speak to children in a way that does not bring out the best in them and to speak to them too simply. Two things happen when we do that, the first is that we demean them and what they are capable of understanding the second is that we do not impart a message. Cute catchy tunes are for little kids. And no this is not a Simon Jacobson discussion, children of all ages… Read more »
Catchy tune, great lyrics. Appreciate the effort and time put into this.Enjoy Marcus!
Your issues are more suitable for the Simon Jacobson vidoes on this website. Clearly, you have a very emotional response to this kid friendly video. Thanks for you passion and I hope Jacobson can help. He does take emails.
the video was put together by “operation survival” as a tool, not a PSA or a rulebook. encourage your children to do what’s right even when no one is in sight…the hope is to empower them to make the right call even when it’s not cool and hope it sticks with them when they grow up.
It is absolutely ridiculius that girls only start learning hilchos yichud in 12 grade!!!! Every girl should have it memorized by their bas mitzvah. And even nore riduclous that its not even taught in the boys system at all. So parents- either teach it to ur kids urself or fight for change in the curriculum!
What happened to sitting down our kids ages 6-12 and teaching them good old fashioned hilchos yichud? Girls arent allowed to be alone with uncles, nephews, brothers in laws and all other men once they are over three. Because the torah says so. The end. You wouldnt hear of abuse cases if girls were never alone with a guy in the first place. I personally rememeber babysitting for a baby when I was in high school and the father came home early and I called the mother and said, your husband came home early and I am waiting outside until… Read more »
I think this is TERRIFIC! Should show it to all children of all ages!! Great work!
Such clear, powerful words! I love the lyrics. No message is too simple for children to hear. Because it is said in simple words, it reaches everyone, including adults:)
Thank you!
empowers kids through a well given over message
Although I agree that it seems appropriate for younger children, it’s a good startup for more conversation with parents and teachers.
Great job!
Great message!!
I just had my kids watch it and it was a home run. Great job. My 3rd grader immediately identified with it. This is great. My kids happen to think Eli Marcus is the best. He is.
Such a great message portrayed in a smart fun way!
This is terribly age inappropriate. Someone once wrote Chabad is leading the way when it comes to mental health and the hard subjects sadly no we are trailing far behind the other sects of Judaism. This video is appropriate for kids 3-6 years old. It’s as age inappropriate as pikky and rikki being used in elementary instead of adults sitting down with the kids and helping them sort out their issues. I know we need to be uber frum but at some point we need to go to real preofessionals for advice not kids book authors and singers.
