Hundreds of girls gathered together in a beautifully decorated hall this past Tuesday, Rosh Chodesh Sivan.
These young ladies were the Bais Rivkah volunteers of “HOO – Helping Our Own,” a Chessed organization established by Rabbi Benjy Stock in Bais Rivka High School, designed to help families in need in our community.
These volunteers helped 110 families in Crown Heights and also volunteer for Bikur Cholim and Kimpatur project. The volunteers go once a week to play with children and give their mother a little break from her busy schedules.
At the wrap-up event, there was an auction with prizes that were generously sponsored, a delicious buffet, and an inspiring address by Mrs. Suri Krinsky. Girls were also recognized for doing extra hours of chessed, in addition to the amount required by school.
Mrs. Krinsky shared a moving story of how she wrote a letter to the Rebbe in honor of her Bas Mitzvah together with her twin. She described how she was disappointed that she had not written herself but had merely signed what her twin had written. However, when they received the response from the Rebbe, there were two letters!
The sensitivity to give each their individual attention made her feel overjoyed and special. When we do small things to take others’ feelings into account, we can make a big difference in their lives.
With that, the girls were encouraged to keep doing chessed, to keep helping the community, and keep it up in the summer wherever they may find themselves.
A true role model helping so many without making ‘noise’! Humble, Classidish and beautiful inside and outside!!
These young girls did not merely go to the families because they had to choose a chesed project for the year
They went because they cared
Many invested time and money, beyond their require hours
Recently, I was in a store and I met a Bais Rivkah girl with
A few small children in tow
She took the children from the family that she visited to shop for Yom Tov nosh at her expense

She’s my great aunt and is amazing!
Years ago ….. she tells my mother she ordered new chairs but it doesn’t match her kitchen, does she want them ?? We probably had no chairs. I don’t believe she bought them for herself and that it didn’t match, I believe she did it because she saw that there was a need for something basic…really heartwarming to think of how generous she was. And even if it was true that it didn’t match her kitchen, I’m sure she could have returned it. She gave a family the pleasure of owning something new. Thank you for taking care of things… Read more »
