Mrs. Serel Maness, who lived a Chassidic life as a resident of the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn, passed away on Thursday, 3 Sivan 5778.
She was 61.
Born to a Jewish family in Philadelphia, Serel was inspired by Chabad to strengthen her connection with her heritage and lead a more Torah observant life and studied at Bais Chana Institute of Jewish Studies in Minnesota.
Living in Crown Heights, she enjoyed the full amenities of being near 770 and the Rebbe. When the Rebbe encouraged chassidim to go on Mivtzoim outreach, she signed up Neshei Chabad activities. On Sundays and during the week, she would go with friends to meet other Jewish women.
She is survived by her husband R’ Yeshaya Maness, and their children Moshe Maness – Crown Heights; Mrs. Alty Silverberg – Paramus, NJ; Esther Maness – Flatbush, NY; Nechama Maness – Flatbush, NY; grandchildren.
The levaya will be at Shomrei Hadas Chaples on Thursday at 3:00 PM and will pass by 770 Eastern Parkway at 3:45 PM.
The family will be sitting 770 Lefferts Avenue #A1L. Shacharis Friday morning 8am and mincha at 1:30pm.
Baruch Dayan Haemes: Cerel Chana bas Chaim Gedalya halevi.
So sad. She was such a tzadaikis and was always willing to help people.
Serel was a uniquely focused passionate for emess and yiddishkeit woman. Baruch dayan emess. We need Geula now!
A real tzadeikes !
I liked Serel so so much ! A woman beyond any measurement ! Clear smart mind . She helped so many people….
She was always kind and sweet when I would meet her. Her family should know (and I am sure does know), what a special person she was.

A GOOD SWEET WOMAN,…. Who brightened the world!.
HER FAMILY SHOULD BE CONSOLED.
I’m shocked at this news. Cerel was a gutskeit — an emesdige woman whose priority was Yiddishkeit and the Rebbe’s inyanim and her family. Every time I had a conversation with her, I came away with a smile if I wasn’t smiling before. I am so sorry for the family for your loss. May she be a gute better for all of you and for Klal Yisrael!! I have no doubt she’ll do her utmost to shake the heavens to bring Moshiach.
So very sorry to read this. She was a very gutte neshama. Will be truly missed. Please Abishter משיח כאו!
What a sweet woman! So sad!! She always had a smile and a warm heart!! She was always running after mitzvahs!
A very good hearted woman! We will miss her.
My heart goes out to the family. I’m very sorry for your loss!
THe only thing she have had in her head is the Geula!
She did anything she could for that .
And probably will still do . I’m so so shocked of these news , one of the greatest Tzadakes in the world 🌎- she did everything she could for Moshiach, the healthiest mind in the world! Always thought straight and honest, never put down anyone, cared for every person
Nothing to say
We miss u Serel
