Readers of the Israeli frum daily newspaper Hamevaser noticed an unusual note included in the Letters to the Editor section on Wednesday.
It refers to the times when many frum people in Bnei Brak, Jerusalem and others cities in Israel were duped into joining an ugly political battle against Chassidus, the Rebbe and Chabad.
The letter, under the title “Public Request for Forgiveness,” reads:
In my childhood, I was incited to tear the Torah teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe zatzal (without getting into specifics).
“Today I review his books and see him a giant among giants in all of Torah with an unparalleled love for all Jewish people, and I regret the past.
I told this to a Rov and Posek and he told me to publicly announce my sorrow and ask for forgiveness, and study his books every day.
M,
Jerusalem
I had a rov who told me to learn the rebbes seforim everyday
Knowing of what’s going on out there one can publish the size of a weekend newspaper all of containing asking for mechila ads!
He followed what his rav told him he should do. I’m sure he asked about signing anonymously. Some of you may have given wonderful suggestions, perhaps some of these even he thought about, but at the end of the day he follows his rav… to be honest that’s better than many of us.
He should go to the Ohel and ask forgiveness
First of all, what “remarks”? Tearing is not the same thing. Second, who says he publicized his name then either?
I see no reason why his name would benefit him, you or anyone else.
Why the criticism. Let’s learn to appreciate everything positive instead of asking for more
“האדם יראה לעינים, וה יראה ללבב”
This was so positive! How did you manage to turn it negative??
This is clearly a step to bring achdus to am yisroel and should be welcomed.
Im suprised he wasnt told to go to the ohel to ask forgiveness
Teshuvah is desired. I am sure that the Rebbe was Mochel him.
Hopefully thousands more to follow
He didn’t withhold his name when he made the blasphemous remarks. The apology to be sincere 100% should be signed imho.
So what does the Mechila help?
Michila B’rabim?!
Even the haters are doing Teshuva. May they all soon recognize the Rebbe’s status as Nasi Hador.
