Rabbi Speaks on Widow Podcast

Rabbi Hirshy Minkowicz, a Shliach in Georgia, spoke about losing his wife Rashi and raising 8 children on the Widows Wish podcast.

Rabbi Hirshy Minkowicz, Director of Chabad of North Fulton in Alpharetta, Georgia, was a recent guest on the podcast of the Widows Wish, a website for widows and their children.

The podcast is hosted by Simonie Levy who lost her husband Mark in 2008 and has raised 4 children on her own. Her nurturing and loving spirit made her want to share her techniques and wisdom with other widows.

"Not only will he discuss the spiritual perspective on widowhood, he will also share with us the loss of his beloved wife Rashi, leaving him with 8 children. This is truly an amazing hour," Levy wrote about the episode.

Hirshy your more than Amazing
Having gone through a loss of a parent at a young age, seeing how single parenting is and all the challenges and running a Chabad House there are no words to describe what a special person you are. May you have continued kochos and have besuros tovos betov hanireh vhanigleh. Please do take a couple days breather (every 3-4 months) for yourself.

Thank you for sharing
This was very helpful for me as the child of a widow to see what the struggles are from the side of the parent. So thank you Rabbi Hershy for sharing your story. May redemption come very soon for all and end all suffering.

yagata vlo matzata - al taamin
As a trauma survivor I found this clip so so good.

It's a deeper understanding and awareness we build when going through trauma - death, divorce, loss of job - they might not appear the same - yet trauma is trauma - very painful and potential to develop a thicker skin that takes us through lifes challenges

trauma can be defined as 'experiences that leave us feeling helpless'

empowerment is admitting that it was devastating and with the opportunity to find strengths in us to grow is what makes a huge change in life.

thank you Rabbi

Thank you.
Definitely worth listening to, quite empowering, and gives lots of food for thought. Thank you for opening up, for sharing, for your raw honesty, and your eloquent, clear, real talk. I'm definitely glad I spent the hour listening. It was hard to listen to, but I feel somehow more at peace after listening.
