In rain, snow, sleet or sun, a group of Lubavitch women in Montreal, Canada, meet on a weekly basis to learn Tanya.
We started our study of the Tanya with the Shaar Blatt where the Alter Rebbe informs us of 2 ways to become closer to the Aibeshter, the short-long way, and the long-short way.
More than 8 years later, we finally made a siyum on the first 53 Perakim, truly the long-short way.
The interactive weekly shiur began in Montreal in memory Perel bas Avrohom Krinsky, in the Nusach Ha’Ari Shul.
It continued through Skype in the home of Mrs. Chany Gniwisch after the dedicated teacher, Rabbi Zalman Kaplan, was hired as Rosh Yeshivas Tzeirei Hashluchim in Tzfas.
Rabbi Kaplan has brought the Tanya down to a very practical level, through many relevant examples.
Through the text of the Tanya, we have explored many concepts of Chassidus, and have come away with a much better understanding and appreciation while learning the daily Chitas.
In our ‘pan’ to the Rebbe, we wrote that we will strive to continue our learning, to influence others, and to apply what we have learned. We are looking forward to continuing our Shiurim with Rabbi Kaplan after Pesach.
It is beautiful to see her dedicated to making this happen. She is a special women with an open house, open mind and an open heart.
