Lakewood reaches out to Lubavitch.
A popular hat store based in Lakewood, NJ, is introducing what they called “the first-ever foldable Chabad hat,” promising to help chassidim and bochurim in their many travels.
As Lubavitchers of all ages are strict about taking their black fedora along during both personal and business trips, storing the delicate felt hat has always been an issue.
Whether traveling by car, train or plane, the hats tend to get crushed by a heavy suitcase or other items. On flights, where airlines limit the amount of carry-on luggage a traveler can bring, the hat box becomes a burden that many would love to do without.
Now, Simchy Zuckerman, a young entrepreneur and proprietor of the ThatHat store, says he had come up with a solution.
His company designed a hat that he says is an “extremely light-weight, rabbit-felt hat that can be folded and placed in a suitcase or even your pocket, and will not leave a single crease.”
In describing how he came up with the idea, Zuckerman explained that while the concept of a foldable hat is not his original idea, “There was no foldable hat available for the Yeshiva or Chabad crowd.”
“I incorporated the idea and manufactured something that is comfortable, stylish, and most of most of all, looks no different than the average black hat,” he says.
He says the new hat, which is produced exclusively for ThatHat at a plant in Italy, is perfect for travelers and Bar Mitzvah-aged children because of its smaller brim size, it can last for many years.

Im a lubavitcher and already purchased one. I think its a great idea.
All the fuss is only due to the fact that this creative idea came from a side that is Litvishe. It is hard for any lubavitcher to accept that and that is the reason for all the negativity. Trust me, if this was a lubavitchers idea all the commenters would be screaming in praise and all yelling out kiddush lubavitch!
Only a tzaddik know how and is allowed to.
It’s not in our capabilities to take non Jewish music and attempt to elevate
The top 5 X-mas songs are also written by Jews. What’s your point? Don’t forget Tefillin or the Sheva Mitzvot B’nei Noach if that’s to much for you
Song was written by two yidden
During my travels I have crushed my borsalino hat into a travel bag and found the experience adds character to the look of the hat
Expect that it actually looks like it was folded when u buy from Zara 🙂
they have that at Zara for many years for only $20:)
My grandfather, Yisroel Zalmanovitch a”H, from Minkovitz used to fold his hat and put it in his coat pocket.
How long does it last?
why the negativity? its for practical purposes, tough to carry hats on planes, cars, bikes, etc
lol at 00:08 seconds when the guy drops the hat
:):)
I hope do it STAYS on my head….
Please don’t take it off your hat…..
When are they opening in CH?
My Atzi hat lasted only a couple months… I don’t recommend it
Does it actually work, or it needs to be steamed up and touched up each time? Please reply.!
T.y.
Will come in handy when I ride a bike
A non-chabad looking hat, that you can roll up and hide real fast.
Perfect for the non-Chabad bochur who doesn’t want to wear a hat R”L, and who also … SHAVES!?!?!
This is not LUBAVITCH any way you look at it!
Do they ship to Israel?
Not Lubavitch – maybe moder-vitch or something.
Besides, why would a Lubavitcher need a folding hat? So he can stuff it in his pocket and go to the movies CV”S.
As an owner of a hat store for many years this particular hat is very poor quality. these days there is no hat for under 100 dollars !!! Unless it’s wool !!! I would recommend a hat that is doing very well it’s called Cappelo it’s outstanding quality and the price !!!
Very appealing advertisement to me. משיח tzeiten, purify & take whatever u can!!
My son rides to cheder everyday. Difficult with hat, tefillin and knapsack on a bike. Love ghe idea. Just baught him his hat last week. Sorry i missed this opportunity !! Dont live in the states and would certainly buy it
very good purchase, smooth clean hat with regular style. love the tube that i can travel with, definitely recommend!!!
The only way to go. Cheaper, better quality, Jewish music type of people and they don’t label their hats and subject them to one sect. Lol. Atzi hats
Basically a hat for chabadnikim who don’t wear hats
It’s perfect, before if you had son having a bar mitzvah and wanted to make absolutely certainly he’d never wear a hat on a weekday, you’d have to get him one of those boutique guys with the assortment of feathers, now you can just get him the hat paste and be done with it.
Well looks pretty good to me… Where can I buy a rabbit felt for under $80? Last I checked those are wool hats…
Can’t believe “COLlive” would post a video with a non Jewish song…
1.small brim
2.look the ribbon is not fully black
3.very expensive for the look of the hat u can buy a better hat then that for under$80
