The fifth Yarzeit of Rabbi Avraham Dov Hecht obm was held at the Ohel Chabad in close proximity to the resting places of the Lubavitcher Rebbes on Thursday, January 11, 2018 – the 24th day of Tevet 5778.
The Kaddish Memorial Prayer was recited by two of his sons present, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Hecht of Nice, France, and Rabbi Yehoshua Hecht of Norwalk, CT.
Also attending were Rebbetzin Nechama Kantor of Brooklyn, NY, Rebbetzin Rochel Wineberg of Michigan and Rebetzin Shoshana Fasten of New York, daughters of Rabbi Avraham Hecht.
Rabbi Avraham Hecht is fondly remembered as a brilliant Torah scholar and orator who among the foremost rabbinic leaders of our day served with the greatest distinction the American and World Jewish community.
In his capacity as President of the Rabbinical Alliance of America/Igud HaRabonim, Rabbi Hecht was mentor to hundreds of Rabbis who consulted him for advice and as the Spiritual leader at Sharre Zion, the largest Sephardic congregation in North America, he selflessly guided many thousands in the ways of Torah and Mitzvah observance.
Following the prayers at the graveside, a Yahrzeit collation was held at the Ohel Chabad where words of Torah and inspiration were shared.
The observance was organized by Rabbi Mendy Mirocznik, the Executive Vice President of the Rabbinical Alliance and by Rabbi Yehoshua Hecht, the Chairman of the RAA Presidium.
