Camp Chaya, a new summer camp in the Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania, is promising a camp experience like no other.
The new camp is for Lubavitch girls going into the 6th, 7th and 8th grade, and is housed on a 140 acre campground near Youghiogheny River Lake. On-site activities and facilities include boating on a private lake, go-carting, driving range, zipline/flying squirrel, rock climbing wall, various ball courts, archery, paintball course, horses and so much more. Clean and air-conditioned bunk houses are among the amenities offered.
An experienced staff will create a unique environment for the camp; using a fun atmosphere and innovative ways of learning, they are committed to nurturing the girls’ growth in their Yiddishkeit and Chassidishkeit.
“We started this camp because we saw there was a great need for it within our community here in Pittsburgh. We knew if our small community needed more options for girls this age, how much more so in the community at large,” says camp co-director Calo Firtell.
Co-director Chana Friedman shares this enthusiasm. “I’ve felt for a long time that there needs to be more summer camps for our girls. I am excited to implement new ideas.”
The camp is dedicated to the loving memory of Chaya Spalter a”h. Although she always dreamed of going to camp, she was never able to attend a regular camp. It’s especially meaningful that every camper’s joyful experience will be in her zechus.
Camp Chaya is open to girls from around the world but space is limited. To learn more and to register, please visit the website at campchaya.com.

I don’t see a pool or lake in the picture of the grounds.
Is there?

Are there horses at the camp or is that a random picture there?
I’m so excited to see what this camp will be like! Chana Friedman is one of a kind!
Another girls’ camp is definitely needed for this age group.
