The European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini gave a smug response when asked about the continent’s plans on recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The question came after a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with the continent’s foreign ministers to discuss Middle East affairs and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
It was the first such visit in 22 years of a sitting Israeli Prime Minister to the headquarters of the EU in Brussels, from which anti-Israel sentiments and policies often originate.
Netanyahu boldly called on the representatives of European countries to follow U.S. President Donald Trump in moving their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
In a press conference following the meeting, Mogherini said: “I know that Prime Minister Netanyahu mentioned a couple of times that he expects others to follow President Trump’s decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem.”
She then added, with a smug smile, “He can keep his expectations for others because from the European Union Member States’ side this move will not come.”

“PM Netanyahu realised there is full EU unity: only realistic solution is based on two states, with #Jerusalem as capital. We want to continue to work with the Quartet with US, Russia and UN and to enlarge this forum” @FedericaMog pic.twitter.com/8AGjMBNBaE

sometimes we get taken in by loud advocates who like to talk tough but don’t actually do very much…
May we remind Bibi that the way to make a fait accompli – as in facts on the ground is to do so without fanfare but with quiet determination – as the Rebbe explained many times.
The Nations will grumble but eventually come to terms with the new reality.
So stop looking for their approval and get on with the job!

Same thought & feeling as u
he should tell her that every inch of land is holy, given to the Jewish people by G-d and she should take a deep breath and hold it in forever!
And then she was a member of the Italian Communist Party.
In college she wrote a paper on Islam.
No wonder…
This is a vicious remark. Totally undiplomatic and un-mentchlich. There is an antisemitic tone to her words.
She’s a Mooslim??
As a European I can say that the EU is a bastion of anti-semitism. Has always been and hasn’t changed. Bibi spoke very well, articulate and to the point. Our destiny lies in G-d’s hands alone. May He have mercy on us and redeem us and unite us with our Rebbe NOW!!!!!
that’s where the nazis came from
he still doesn’t talk confident enough & she took control. Nothing much worthwhile accomplished there it seems to me. Hope his meal was Kosher at least, עד מתי, משיח עכשיו!!
